Haverkamp actions

I kind of just stumbled upon Haverkamps website. I've heard of them, but have never seen one in the wild. What is everyone's opinion of them? Last post I even saw on them on here was from 2017. All the specs look good. Dual port, trigger hanger .0015-.002 clearance, nice bedding notch, etc. prices for them are dirt cheap as well, considering other benchrest style actions.

Thinking about getting one and having a 6br chambered up for some local club matches.

I have one. I like it a lot. Smooth and well made with a nice tight bolt fit. Its a great action especially for the price. The website is active but I don’t think they’re making actions. If you find out either way let us know.

Yeah, that's what I was wondering as well. They have a Facebook page that posted in January of 2025.

I called the number on the website just to see if I'd get an answering machine and it went to someone named John. Nothing mentioned about Haverkamp actions. Afraid you may be right.

The guy who made them passed from what I understand. They had a bunch of them in inventory. I think friends and family are selling them and I think they still support them. They sent me a new firing pin and spring a couple of months back.

Well I'm sorry to hear of his passing. That was my main concern- spare parts. I was thinking about buying one and then buying a bunch of spare parts, but I may hold off.

I read this article on accurate shooter today. It's old, but more than half of these actions are no longer even made. It's sad. Panda being discontinued, stiller viper, barnard, farley etc.

The LV40 is a solid action that I have used in a midrange rifle for 15 years. They were still made in Terre Haute Indiana when I got mine. The gunsmith that built the original rifle in 6BRX said it was a really well made action that he didn't have to do any adjusting on.
That setup is currently chambered in 6BRA, and hasn't been used for 3 years.
Cheers

A few corrections and some information.
Tommy, who made the Haverkamp action and built the business, had a stroke and was unable to continue the business of making actions.
Tommy is still alive so please don't bury him yet

The LV40 is a very nice action and I was disappointed I couldn't get Tommy to build a left hand version, if he had I would have bought a few.

He had a number of actions, receivers and bolts in stock when that happened and has since sold the Haverkamp action business. The new owners took possession of everything some time ago and plan on supporting the existing actions and continuing production.
I do not know the new owners, and the above about the new owners I learnt from my buddy and when I visited my buddy and Tommy last year

Thanks for all the info! Still sad to hear about him, but I'm glad he was able to sell his business, and hopefully walked away with something. Hopefully the new owners have some success as well.

I'm sure Tommy did OK from the sale and I am hoping that the new owners can get everything up and running and get the actions available again.

I first met Tommy in 2005 and found him to be a really nice genuine guy, he spent a lot of time over the years when he started the action business quizzing me about Benchrest and he even built a Benchrest rifle and competed in a few matches.
He spent a lot of time fondling my Bat/Scoville and studying everything about it, he had a very good eye for detail.
Tommy is such a perfectionist, he had a broach made for a job and after trying it he wasn't happy with the finish produced so went and made one himself, the finish it left was far better than the broach he purchased

He had a real nice Southbend Heavy 10 lathe that he rebuilt, it was pristine in every respect, I don't remember seeing it when I was there last
When I was there last year he had some 6mm barrels that I advertised on here and sold one or two for him, my buddy shipped it/them to save Tommy the trouble, I hope they were winners for the new owners.
