The VarTarg stretches its legs...

Yes on the range finder. Take the range finder out to the dog, with a buddy at the truck with the spotting scope and cell phones, find the dog and range back to the truck. It's easier to look back at the truck to get a reading. That little dot in the pic is a dual cab truck.

Thanks for the clarification. I thought maybe there was some 'next level' new LRF out there that I was missing. Lol

Be careful Ken,VarTargs are like potato chips, you can’t stop at one. What rifle do you have and which twist are you shooting?I recently got another Cooper that Greg Tannel put a custom barrel on,kinda wish it was an 11 just to try the 39and 40s with. Will enjoy it though, the 32s aren’t bad:D

I'm shooting a 12 twist Shilen and 39gr Sierra Blitzking with H4198.
I'm getting 3650 fps with my chrono, test will vary, but the results are undeniable.
The first try was with a Rem 700 receiver, but came across a stripped down XP100, and all the feeding problems went away. Then found a Rem 600 stock to try, and life got even better. The mag well was filled in with tooth pics and Devcon.

My VarTarg potato chip addiction is in full swing... I'm adding to the collection with a Wilson 20 Cal/12 twist that is destined for a Rem Model 7 action. A walking rifle to go with the BR rig. Build pics to follow...
