Hand primer or bench primer

Which do you use ?

I have a frankford hand primer and it’s great that you can adjust the primer depth but always wonder if I spun the dial whiteout realizing it.
Pondered about a bench primer but wanted to see what you everyone thoughts are

The way I see it, life is too short to worry about things like this, get both and see which one you like best.

Note, I am good at spending other people's money so make sure the wife is happy and the kid's have new shoes first..... This is also why my poor wife and friends will have lots of priming tools to disposition when I am gone....

I prefer different methods for different applications. I've got press mounted, both ram and auto, and Lee hand types with and without trays, and both large and small primer. Haven't felt the need for a dedicated bench mount -- maybe someday.

I find myself doing most of my pistol and high volume small rifle with the Lee tool, while lounging in front of the TV. :) jd

I used to use the priming tool on top of my Forster co-ax press as it does a good job and I have it set up where it's actually as easy and as fast as a hand primer. However, it's mounted to my workbench. I really like my 21st Century hand primer much better, not only because I've got better control of seating depths, but I like to sit on my couch and watch sporting events while I prime my cases (though I am particularly careful to be sure all the primers are seated right side up ;)).

I been using the Sinclair hand priming tool now for over 20 years or so and I'm completely satisfied with it. Sure it's slow, but I like to seat primers by feel. The tool is indestructible and will be here long after I'm gone.

The other aspect of a hand priming tool I like is that it doesn't take up any space on my compact loading bench. In addition, loading a tube full of explosives then pressing one in close proximity gives me the willies. However, I have never read or heard of a tube of primers ever denotated.

I really don't think it matters as far a performance results. It just depends on how you prefer to prime your cases.

I have both a hand priming tool and one of the RCBS bench mounted type. The RCBS is much faster and has good feel. The hand primer is slower because the primers are inserted individually, one at a time, but it can be taken to the range for loading there easily. The RCBS can be mounted on a thicker board and clamped to a stool or bench at the range too. It's a little less portable.

I have the Frankford Arsenal one also.
As others have mentioned, you can sit down [and watch something if you like] while doing the priming.

The set up makes it easy to feel/look at the primer after seating if it felt different.

I use both! :) Primer pockets in new cases always seem tight, and I use the bench mounted seater to seat them to save discomfort in the hand :(. After a few firings and the primer pockets loosening up a bit, I revert to the hand primer.

I have the RCBS bench mounted Automatic Priming Tool. Best manual priming setup I have ever used.
Same Here.
A big plus for me is the seating operation being completely separate from the primer stack,
plus, it uses standard shellholders, and allows a clear look at each primer ,anvil, etc., before seating.
For the price, I wish they'd include the primer tray as shown in their video.
The RCBS pickup tips are needlessly tight. Fortunately, the Dillon primer tubes work fine.
I have the Bonanza/Forster and the Wheeler kit; they haven't been used since getting the RCBS.
