Priming, priming, priming

I prefer to do it in an extra step to keep the crud out of my good press.
I chose to use a Lee Universal decapping die in a Lee press.
I hear ya'. I have a pile of RCBS Jr. presses. I'll clamp one to the end of
my bench and have at it. My process is to de-cap, and with case still in
hand clean the pocket......done.

Why does anyone do an extra step to de prime?
My FL sizing die does it just fine.
I use the FW de-prining die, i think dillon bought it. theres a couple others on the market. Its a joy to pop them out, never miss,s it self centers, and snaps them to the bin. its in a lee press on the end of the bench, I de-prime first to keep all the fine carbon, dirt and whatever out of the sizing press, then into the walnut to clean., then size. Ive had a rock in the case, and it has not broken a pin yet.

My routine, after shooting, is to first anneal the brass, then pop out primers, clean the brass ( with the primers out, the pockets get cleaned out), then size the brass and so on an so forth. I can’t see cleaning the brass, with the primers still in, or waiting until I size them, to pop the primers out.

I use a separate sizing die set so it doesn’t size it just allows me to use expander ball to nock out dents in necks. That way you don’t have to use an expander when sizing.

I use my set-aside 40+ year-old Pacific-Hornady press to decap using RCBS Universal Decapping Die. Keep my reloading press and dies cleaner. Then I clean the primer pockets.

I still use my Pope style decapper for the cartridges that fit on it. I should get a smaller rod made for it, be more usable then.

Redding universal decapping die as I have removed the decapper and button from the S Type dies.

I used to deprime then tumble. Have the lee and a redding deprime die. I like the lee. I removed the expander ball and went back to using the FLS die to decap since I tumble to remove the case lube. Still need a way to decap for taking headspace measurements on fired brass....

I was thinking of the Marcia, Marcia, Marcia episode my kids watched what seemed like a few dozen times and never thought of Rawhide. That's much better.
