I know it's not cool old iron... but you get great support....
The Harrisons are great machines.I understand that. Theres an m300 on there for 5k as well. Most times those old lathes are better than a brand new one for precision.
Looks in better shape than most I’ve seen and it’s green. Green’s were manufactured in and came from the UK, not asia like the later white ones.I understand that. Theres an m300 on there for 5k as well. Most times those old lathes are better than a brand new one for precision.
I can't think of any instrument I'd rather have for threading; especially internal threading where you can't see the tool. Most of you are too young to be aware of the Trav A Dials. Use one once for threading and other operations and you'll use nothing else. Way easier to read than flashing numbers.

OK, if your going to get technical on me, it's a home-made trav-a-dial knockoff.I don’t see a Trav-A-Dial in your photo![]()
I always used a 2" travel indicator on a magnetic base. Like you my mind couldn't process flashing numbers but I could see the needle rotate. Most of you are too young to be aware of the Trav A Dials. Id take that machine over any taiwanese lathe or 2 chineseLooks in better shape than most I’ve seen and it’s green. Green’s were manufactured in and came from the UK, not asia like the later white ones.

Threading, tenon length, counter bore depth etc. So quick and easy.I can't think of any instrument I'd rather have for threading; especially internal threading where you can't see the tool.
