Might be a topic for another thread but a friend of mine who builds, loads and shoots seems to think the ideal die would size the neck from the OD as well as the ID simultaneously. If you collet the od are you not changing the ID? This is why I thought neck turning is a good thing. removing the irregularities before the collet ring moves the irregular material to the ID ?

Hence the recommendation to full length size, bump the shoulder .0015"-.002" without the expander ball, then use a mandrel to insure that the ID is perfectly round.
That will be more important when seating if you are not neck turning and the neck has some slight thickness irregularities.
I personally use Peterson brass and have had great success with them, cleaned and annealed {AMP} @ time before being processed and loaded. Now on at least 18-20 times without any cases lost and primer pockets still tight.
Bart's 103's are a real winner, Berger 105's & 108's Hybrid {easier to tune than VLD} and Sierra 107's

As stated above VLD = Harder to Tune / My two Dashers are not liking them. 105 HB easy.
Building a BR for Fun will be running 105 HB and 107 SMK in stock at my Man Cave.

I’d stick with Berger, I didn’t like the rdf bullets. Punching steel or something would be fine

I think they got quite a bit of talk in the Archives here. Some negativity if I recall.

I have shot a ton of Nosler Custom Comp bullets and tried to RDF. Some really nice groups but came to believe that as I heard some one else say who was trying them out … RDF stands for random damn flyer.

The juice wasn’t worth the squeeze so stopped trying.
Easy button for me has been Berger 108 BT and 105 Hybrids.

I am a 6BR rookie also
I bought some 107 SMK as they were in stock--used the exact recipe from this site 30g Varget, 450 primer, 107 SMK
First loads were good--did seating depth the next day and found that into the lands until the engrave mark looked about as deep as it was wide and BINGO! Tiny little groups with ES around 10
I have not used any Bergers yet--they are usually hard to locate, price, and the fact that the 107 SMK are about as good as I can possibly shoot settled it for me
That rifle is the Best shooter I have --the EASIEST to load for--and makes me smile every time I get it out

Oh..i feel for anyone getting into this now..
My thinking is the 6mm br is like owning a Ferrari, or Maserati .
If your shooting 6mm br your a distinguished civilized gentleman who demands perfection, & luxury..
hahahaha...i can picture the Planters Peanut Man at a shooting bench shooting 6mm br.

Im just messing.
But in all seriousness the 6mm br is a luxury race car of the cartridge world in my opinion.
You dont put cheap tires on a car like that, you dont fill the tank up with gas from piggly-wiggly.
And you sure as heck dont have Daryl down the street mess with the engine.
Take your time!.
If it takes 2 months saving up disposable income, and to track down the components you think holds some voodoo..then it is what it is.
Its not a race..enjoy when you find what your looking for at a reasonable price in 2025 and grab it..little by little you will have just what you want.
In the long run you will be better off..unfortunately its pretty easy to spend 500$ on components for 2 different loadings in 2025..absolutely rediculous.
But dont settle for some second best in life and cheat your self.

I shot RDFs and custom comps for a summer when money was tight. I won’t be doing it again.

If you’re lookin to save, @Mudcat and Blue Collar Reloading have the best deals on Berger Bullets. @Elder Fudd had some 108 elite hunters for sale and that’s a great one too.

The 6br will shine with practically every bullet you put in it. The better quality of the bullet the shinier it gets.
I had flyers with the Nosler RDF 105 600 yards was bad 1000 yards was terrible, this was out of my .243 that hammers with 105 Amax's. If you're really good behind the rifle you could even see it at short range with the RDF bullet. However the 70 and 77 .224 RDF'S stay together group Wise out of my .223.

If I was spending my money for bullets today for my 6br.
1. Berger's
2 Sierra
Or order some customs.

Not cutting corners Bartlien Barrel New Match Reamer . Lapua Brass Berger 105 HB.

Those Nosler Fly Bullets are a waste of time and money .

So.... for my next couple of questions.
I just got the rifle today. Its slick but I don't think the barrel was ever cleaned. I have been soaking, scrubbing drying, soaking looking at the borescope..it still has plenty of copper buried in it.
The next thing is this comb seems to be glued in this position ? Is this a handyman special idea or did they come this way ?

You can cut it off, sand everything, epoxy it back on let the glue squeeze out the gaps & voids, you’ll just have a black outline of what once was…

Great, that's the direction Ill go.. Still plenty of winter, I need to break it down and see what the pillars are and if there is any bedding in there. If I do all that I may try to paint this stock.

I’d soak the barrel overnight in Wipeout Patch Out then hit it with some JB paste then give it another full cleaning after the paste. That should do it.
