Go easy....total noob to 6BR/Norma

Box of Lapua will last a lift time if you anneal them, keep’m trimmed..

Not sure what presses you have ( screw in dies or arbor type) Redding, Wilson dies
A trimmer of sorts ( PMA has a cheap functionally one..
Lots of good loads on here as well..
I went for Redding dies couple of neck collets and a micrometer seater., Brunos neck mandrel and I already had the blueberry neck turner as well as a junk Hornaday.
Now some projectiles and some Varget $$$$

If it’s a no turn- don’t touch the necks-

Mandrels - don’t use - only to make brass rd from box to sizing die…At’s what your bushings are for. ;)

Projectiles.. Humm. if they been fired from the Lapua ammo- just get some Berger’s…

Looks like a plan!!!

Might be a topic for another thread but a friend of mine who builds, loads and shoots seems to think the ideal die would size the neck from the OD as well as the ID simultaneously. If you collet the od are you not changing the ID? This is why I thought neck turning is a good thing. removing the irregularities before the collet ring moves the irregular material to the ID ?

Noob alert... what do you mean if its a no turn ?

Do this 3-4 firings in… trim brass .003”-.005” max length… brass will tell ya when..

A "no turn" is a chamber where you don't need to turn necks for clearance.
And if you intend to shoot factory ammo, no-turn is the only option. For 6mm that's usually .273 or .274 dia.

As for bullets there are a variety of awesome 6mm bullets ranging from 103 to 108 gr that shoot well at 6BR and 6BRA velocities. I do find that each barrel likes different bullets (even of the same weight) so unfortunately the way to really get maximum accuracy is to try several.

That said, if the Lapua 105gr box ammo shoots well, I'd also start with the Lapua Scenar-L 105gr bullets. I've shot both the loaded ammo and hand loaded with the loose bullets and both have performed well.

I would suggest reaching out to Harrells Precision and have them make you a sizing die. They will have you send them 3 pieces of fired brass. I think the cost is only about $125. Just buy a Wilson seating die. Berger 108s, Berger 105 Hybrids, or Sierra Matchking 107 all shoot very well in a 6BR.

Have fun!
Where were you yesterday ? LOL

One thing about starting with heave bullets, (100+) you can't go back!! Me? Zero freebore. Bullets seated at or into the lands.
For starters, the lightest bullets you can get your hands on then go heavier as the throat wears.
Shoots bug hole to the point of being "boring". Be sure to also bring something else to shoot. ;)
Got Lapua AND Norma brass with 20 to 25 reloads and still going strong. You get what you can when the supply is tight. Both brands work well!! Some reformed into 20 BR, 22BR, 30 BR and my 6.8 BR Wildcat. All will shoot bug holes.:D
Precision Bushing bump dies so the length is kept in check. No trimming needed!!
Aneal when/if you don't get the spring back you're after. Primer pockets still snug, mid range loads to you don't beat the brass to death. YMMV.

As an update, my first 6BR barrel was an "off the shelf" pre fit from a well known barrel maker. I was shooting 50s and could get no where close to the lands. Found someone that wanted it more than I did. Think I may have only shot maybe 20+ rounds thru it.
Ordered up a barrel with ZERO free bore and never looked back.
From then on, nothing but ZERO free bore chambers for me. ;)

I’m a fan of Harrell’s dies

Harrells wants three pieces of brass fired three times. You should be able to tap down a bushing and get the neck sized just enough to get through 3 firings. Ideally can repurpose a die you have already for that.
