I’d soak the barrel overnight in Wipeout Patch Out then hit it with some JB paste then give it another full cleaning after the paste. That should do it.

Savage Barrels are known for fowling, I clean mine several times with

Bore Tech Cu+2 Copper, 4 oz or​

Bore Tech Eliminator Bore Cleaner​

They both work, the C4 is a copper remover, I wet patch it, let it set 10-15 mins and patch it out. I will do this several times until the patches come out fairly white. The copper fouling turns the patches blue.

If that’s what you have, go for it.

I’d snag some wipeout patch out and wipeout accelerator soon. I only use the accelerator if I’m cleaning it all at once. I don’t leave that in overnight.

If it’s really cooked in there, you’ll probably end up needing an abrasive. Also, I replace my bronze brush every other cleaning, or about 30-40 cycles through the barrel.

After an hour of cleaning my borescope still shows copper deposited in the rifling. The chamber is looking good, the barrel...not so much yet.

I have a .243 X Caliber barrel on a Savage action. 35 rounds from clean has copper build-up. I simply use the Boretech Copper Remover as directed and it's good to go.

So the barrel is in my opinion "clean" It took another hour or so and some voodoo sauces but the scope says it shines.

You guys made a believer out of me . Those that said try the Boretech CU-2 Copper remover. Mine came in today. I thought my barrel was clean...but no. Amazing all the blue and black junk that still came out of tonight.

So with some patience from a forum member here in answering all my myriad of questions. I was able to slowly disassemble the Savage Model 12 6BR and tune it up and reassemble it into what should be a good shooter. Thank you Gabe.

What brand are those rings Sir?
They look slightly offset to the left, which would be great to get better eye alignment so I don’t have to tilt my head so far to the right in my scope.
