Open debate seems to be less respectful all the time with guys preferring to shout each other down over the smallest things, or openly baiting others into arguments. It is okay to disagree, but shouting the loudest does not automatically make you right. Worse, are the guys who are clearly just parroting what they think they know without doing any meaningful testing of their own.

To me, the overall vibe here is mostly uncool anymore. Things change, but not always for the better. With the amount of active turmoil here at any given moment, it does not surprise me that many with the most to offer remain silent.

To all the friends I have made through this forum and along the way at matches, I hope 2026 treats you great and you have your best season yet. Back to your regularly scheduled programming. I am wasting my bandwidth when there are bullets to make.
 
I really enjoy this forum overall and the folks in it. But as I have stated before, if each member had to pick one discipline and have it posted below our screen names it would let us know were the other guy was coming from. That would be a great advantage to the flow of helpful information.
 
Seems to me the discourse is less hostile recently. The Boss deletes posts that get rowdy quicker now.

We’re fortunate to have the knowledge base of the guys like Messrs Lambert, Nyhus, Tooley and others.

As far as I can find, there’s no better firearm forum and now we have a Handgun section!
 
I guess I must have thick skin because it seems the same to me that it was in years past. There are a lot more people here though and I often find that when I go to answer a question or reply to a query, someone else already beat me to it with the response I was going to give. No need for me to post.

That said, I've been at this reloading/shooting game for a long time and I find that with all the new people I have actually picked up information worthy of consideration. In my mind the site is getting better rather than worse. Sure, there is the occasional arsehat but that is nothing new on any site I've ever frequented. I am sure that there are times when I have been that arsehat (though I would deny it:))

You could start the fad by adding a discipline to your account details. :rolleyes: But I doubt that would address the point Jimmymac spoke of.

Being a Republican and married, I'm used to people telling me I'm wrong and yelling at me derisively. I bear it with an apathetic attitude towards their treatment of me. They could put their money where their mouth is and try to walk their talk or I just wait for Time to settle who was correct and made the better choice. In the end it's just Words. The only important thing about them is keeping yours when it's given.

Excuse me now while I replenish my supply of sticks and stones before I head in to Work.
 
All in all I believe this to be a pretty polite forum. Yes there is the occasional pot stirrer. But this is what we get with the internet. Face to face conversations are polite in my experience because there is the possibility of getting busted in the mouth when disrespectful. The lack of direct contact of the internet does make some more courageous than they would be in person.
