Fed-ex debacle

Lost 1000rds of prairie dog ammo shipped to New Mexico last year because of fEdeX. They said, ''These things happen''. 500 prairie dog bullets from 0regon disappeared last year too. Flat rate box arrived EMPTY. Took EMPTY flat rate box to the Post 0ffice. 0ne look at box and clerk said, '' Shoulda used MORE tape".
l only ship or buy thru UPS now. lf they don't ship UPS, l don't BUY

Actually, ship a taped box inside of a flat rate box. Find and buy the tamper proof tape - have to use water to activate the glue. Tape EVERY seam, including the one on the side.

l was fortunate AC. The seller replaced my 500 for FREE!! He filed a claim at the POST OFFICE. They wanted proof. l gave them a copy of the USPS MO l sent certified. NOT proof enough. Next they wanted the EMPTY flat rate box also!! When the seller offered to make good the missing bullets l told him ship UPS. I would pay shipping. Seller said UPS was expensive. Daddy used to say, ''lts either GOOD or its cheap.''

ps. l don't know if the poor seller ever got his claim paid or NOT

FedEx when they deliver to my address they leave the package anywhere in the yard they feel like so I call them up and tell them that I didn’t receive it . I tell them on the phone that they get what they pay their drivers

I have considered delivery to the local fedex retail facility and pick it up. Not sure if that is an option. I am closer to trying that option.

I use the re-inforced tape -looks like drywall mesh tape and tape the snot out of it. Double box is a good idea. I stuff any voids inside with paper towel or newspaper and pack it tight so the contents can't move.

Not saying what your tape job looked like, but I have seen some extremely poor taping jobs in the past.

The key to shipping stuff is in the last sentence. If the contents can move it'll destroy the box. Close it up and shake it violently. If you can feel or hear it move you need more packing. But none of that helps the recipient or the OP. Good luck on your claim. I haven't had good experiences with claims

Other than poor packaging job by the sender, WHY are we paying the shipping fee, from point A to point B........AND paying extra insurance so the professional shippers don't destroy the item being shipped????????

Mark. l didn't personally ship either pkg. fEdEx shipped the 1000rds of PDS ammo. They LOST it.
Seller in 0regon shipped the 500 PDS bullets. Post 0ffice destroyed it!
When l personally ship anything l double wrap. Always ship U P S. Never a problem!!

pretty sure those scan guns they use have a GPS function they won't admit too except under extreme duress. we lost some expensive stuff at the plant on a couple occasions and kept up the pressure to the point they finally had to admit they had a driver scanning delivered in a parking lot!!!! this is your second barrel loss in the last couple years???? i would make them produce the GPS coordinates of the delivery as verification and see what they say???
stan
we may have some fedex/ups guys on here that will fess up on the scanners capabilities and functionalities????
Yes ups diad has a GPS attached (truck as well) to where you stop complete- press enter to delivery compete- a package. I'm at a relatively small center with a former driver as a boss so he's on us to do a good job. I'm not sure at other parts of the country but if we misdeliver a package and get a missing package call, .management shows us the GPS scan on computer printout and we are to go knock on the door it was delivered to and retrieve if possible to take to the correct address.

Unfortunately not all places are this way. I worked a week in bozeman and that place is a crap shoot. Getting to know your driver esp ups wouldn't hurt anything at all.

Fedex- not sure if it'd help at all. I hear locally from a contracted out that a guy stole hundreds of dollars of gas for personal use to be fired only to be rehired a few months later to only do it again to the same boss.

And on top of that they say they delivered it but the recipient doesn't receive it. Then when you file a claim they say it was delivered.

Right now I have a Fedex Package bouncing around between Houston and San Antonio, twice.
Package has been delayed twice. Its not the weather. Two package mailed the same day from the same vendor, at the same time. One went South toward TN, the other thru CO. One made it, the other I can only hope. I never had a issue before and I have purchased lots of stuff on line. Is it woke???

Ordered a bench grinder and it was delivered via Fedex. They dropped the box about 150 yards away from my house on the street and it was raining. I was checking everywhere to see what happened to the delivery and finally spotted a box lying on the street ways away. Needless to say their "cast away" days are long gone.

That's the new Fedex.

Just something to think about. All, every single package I ordered from a business got to me without a hitch. Over the last 20 yers up to this Christmas. Mostly venders like Midway, Cabelas, Natchez, Powder Valley, MidSouth, Bruno, Grafs. I cant keep track of which when what shipped. Sometimes they start FedEx and end up USPS. The only package I sent was to a buyer from this forum. He messaged me after receipt the weirdest thing I have seen. He got my entire order, bullets, cases and 3 dies, but he said they were all opened and tossed around. I had them in taped bullet boxes inside taped boxes inside a taped box. Just thinking out loud.

We're fortunate - our UPS guy is a young guy who's a gun nut! He's spent up to 20 minutes at our place looking at stuff and gathering info. I keep telling him not to get in trouble, as they monitor those guys' times really closely! I gave him a brick of primers a while back; I thought he was going to wet himself!
