I killed a lot of PDs that didnt know they were target bullets. It all depends what you mean by all around work. If any hunting is involved i would choose the 107 Sierra last. They won't open like the others. They have thicker jackets and most times will pencil. Matt
When the Berger 105 first came out Berger said the minimum twist was a 1:8 twist and after a couple of years they changed it to a 1:7 twist. I called Berger and talked to Brian Litz the Berger Bullets Ballistician and asked him about this change. He said some further testing resulted in the 105 Hybrid twist rate change and also the Berger Twist Rate Calculator was changed to reflect this. After the calculator change my stability went from the Comfortable Stability area into the top of the Marginal Stability area with the BC being compromised by 2% and it showed a new minimum twist rate of 1:7.75. Brian said not to worry that I should not have a problem with the twist rate of 1:8 and that appears to be what I have found. I am not sure what the elevation is where you shoot but at 1000 feet elevation, 80 degrees and bullet speed of 2800 FPS a twist rate of 1:8 is optimized, I shoot at sea level. With all the variables that apply you really need to use the Berger Twist Rate Calculator to check the twist rate needed. The published Twist Rate on the bullet box or advertisements cover a generic situation and not necessarily yours. So the Berger site says a 1:7 twist is required for the 105 hybrid. It says 1:8 twist for the 105 hunting vld and the 108.
Is Berger just being cautious with the 1:7 for the 105 hybrid?
Looks like you will have no problems shooting Berger 6mm 105 Hybrids. With the information you posted you could be at 1:8.5 twist and still be in the stability area.I shoot from 6000' on up to around 9000'. I imagine my average temp is below 70deg.

Ferg, what distance are you shooting? Are your loads all the same except the bullets? Does each bullet have the same SD?105 Scenar L

In that order. You will never find another mass produced bullet with better consistency then Lapua 105 L period.
Berger 6mm 108
If you had to pick one 6mm bullet by the big brand names for all around work, what bullet would you choose?
Swadiver: have you compared results- 108 vs. 105 Hybrid. Would be good to know because of the hybrid drought.
I have done that. my first Krieger 6BR barrel (1 in 8 twist) shot excellent with both the 108's and the 105 Hybrids. took a bit more work of course, to get the Hybrids shooting, but they did great out to 600.
i replaced that barrel not long ago with another 1 in 8 twist Krieger and it loves the 108's but have not had that much success with the Hybrids in the new barrel.
my next barrel is a 1 in 7.5 twist Brux with a .236 bore. i am thinking the Hybrids may do very well in that barrel. we will see.
