I'm looking for a deburring tool to debur some case necks. I'm stepping 223 brass down to 20 cal. I have a few hand held chamfer/debur tools, but the debur tools have never worked worth a darn. It seems like every "deburring" tool I've found are not actually sharp, and tend to just push the bur back instead of cutting it off. Normally, I use a scotch bright pad to debur after trimming to length, but I'm wanting to put a more aggressive external chamfer on these necks so they will feed into the smaller bushings more easily. Curious what others are using for this.

My favorite has always been a powered 3 way case trimmer. They aren't much fun to adjust.

Here is what I use. Just push down harder on the tool to remove however much brass you want. You can always sharpen the debur tool with a dremel or file

But once they're adjusted, they are gold.
this. 4 blade tools don't let the brass slip out like a 3 blade, easier on the fingers. you only need a turn or 2. I do it in a forester DBT tool. your not sharpening a pencil, just take the burr off.

I've been using an L.E. Wilson that was marked RCBS that I bought in the mid 70's. A few years ago I bought a new RCBS and it did what you described. I called RCBS and they sent a replacement. It did the same thing. If I ever need to replace the deburring tool I figure I'll get a Wilson.
I have found the LE Wilson chamfers like butter compared to the Lyman which has a lot of chatter. With that said, both tools (2-end torpedo style) are difficult to use with larger calibers like the 45s due to wanting to jump off the rim of the case. For that need, I'm looking at the inexpensive Lee chamfer abd deburring tool where the case mouth fits inside the tool for an outside chamfer.

I use the Lyman case prep xpress and love it, but the tools don't last very long and started rolling over the case mouths instead of cutting. Caused all sorts of problems. Bought the RCBS carbide tool and everything is good now.

This also does a great job, but be careful - it cuts really fast.
I have used and continue to use the RCBS/Wilson hand, double ended tool I bought many years ago. And I do my cases one at a time, after triming and/or when not needed after FL sizing. Have done this, this way for over 50 yrs of reloading and it just flat out works. Inside mouth first and out side last, prior to powder and seating of bullet. I use it on my cases from 17 to 375 caliber.

I use the same tools like that one that come in the Lyman hand crank system. The work good. Don't need electricity. really need it for flat base bullets on the inside of the case mouth. forgot to mention that I wear those thin latex gloves to hold on to the brass better
