Fake news in gun mags now?

There are no gun writers anymore.....not in gun mags anyway. Hard to tell a good story when you are commenting on the ultra lite composite ( plastic ) stock and matte finish ( cheap parkerize ) and flush drop magazine ( cheap no-feeding plastic crap ). I miss Elmer, Jack, Skeeter and Jeff alot.
They've all pretty much morphed in to Creedwhores.

You think a 458 lott would work out past 350? You gonna sight it in for me?

Definitely work at 350 but may take a few rounds to get the trajectory arc dialed in. Sighting in? Yes, but only if I can use a Led Sled with a couple hundred pounds on it.:D That's one of those rifles that kills on one end and maims on the other. :p

someone might have to if you want to win any more matches in the near future...

a couple years back i spent the springtime purposely shooting only rimfire - thousands of rounds - to work on bench technique and trigger control. thought i was doing pretty good. then early summer, a box of full power loads in my .300 weatherby from sandbags and i was about back where i started. that was not a particularly fun day at the range.

I was reading a military rifle mag my buddy passed me the other day. There was an article about the military test comparing the 6.5CM against the 308win.

Mind you it was a 130 & 140 compared to the 175mk.
Article claimed Double the range and half the recoil of the 308 with better accuracy.

In the same mag there was an article about early 30-06 testing with different bullet weights after firing french machine guns and ammo in WW1. The military went to a 198gn, but soon went back to a 175 gn because the range of the 198 exceeded to saftey requirements of the current 1000yd ranges, and were deemed unsafe for competition. During development of the .308 win they just stuck with the 175, because it was competition prooven.

One think we can all learn from Hornady.

I've owned 5 DR's. They were fun to play with. The biggest was a German hammer guild gun in 500 3"NE. I had 2 hard headed friends shoot it for the first time and not listen about only cocking one hammer at a time until they got used to it. Both guys doubled it on different days. Shoulda seen the look their faces. Both had the exact same dazed look of what the hell just happened. I sold all but one, a Merkel in 9.3x74R with adjustable barrels for POI. Then came the reality a kid and responsiblilty... Fun while it lasted. I did make it to Africa and shoot buff with the Merkel. It holds an honest 1" 2 shot group at 50 yards, lol

Good that you could make it over with the Merkel. Do you have a pic of that dagga boy you could post? If I ever get the jingo to hunt DG, he'll be the one.

I have bunch on an sd card. I'll have figure out how to post off of that. Once you hunt buff you'll never want to want hunt anything else over there it's so fun! My strong recomendation is get 2 on license. After the first is down you'll immediately want to hunt another one.

If I won the lotto I could just hunt buff the rest of my life, lol.

I hear you on the second one. I was only going to go once. That was six trips ago.

My good friend I went to Zim with in 09' just went back a month ago for a hand gun buff hunt in RSA. He said don't bother hunting high fence buff. He said it was NOTHING like hunting wild Africa like we did.
