Fake news in gun mags now?

Even years ago I remember seeing a gun magazine calculate pistol group size on "best 3 of 5 shots". Hmm, that's convenient.

That is why I shoot one shot groups, quit while I am ahead. I also shoot 105's out of a 12 Twist 6 Creedmoor. I do this because then my holes look ob-longed giving the look of a stellar multiple-shot group and still shows the greatness of the Creedmoor.

Damn it! Beat me to it!

One shot groups for me as well! Only issue is my group size is dependent on my bullet size. I try and shoot a lot of .17s to keep my groups in the “teens.”

The people putting the articles together are WRITERS....and they are not very good at that.

If the articles are put together by SHOOTERS, maybe the groups would be better and the true abilities of the rifle and ammo could be truthfully stated.

The best one was a Krieghoff Big Five in .500 Nitro 3". Every shot was 1/2" or a hair bigger.

Gosh, if this is the way it is done, then I have several great loads for the Nosler 140 RDFs I've been struggling with and did not even know it!!!

There are a few in the classifieds at africahunting.com A nice .458 Lott would make quick work of those deer that like to trundle in to the briars and brambles.

at the local public range a guy showed up with a double rifle and a few different brands of (german?) factory ammo. iirc he said it was about $5 a shot, and he was experimenting to find a load that regulated to the same poi. i value individualism, pride of ownership and self expression, but this seems to be in the rarified air of impracticality.

There are no gun writers anymore.....not in gun mags anyway. Hard to tell a good story when you are commenting on the ultra lite composite ( plastic ) stock and matte finish ( cheap parkerize ) and flush drop magazine ( cheap no-feeding plastic crap ). I miss Elmer, Jack, Skeeter and Jeff alot.
