Factory Benchrest

At the ARA FR Nationals in September, most of the rifles were CZ 457 (Varmint, ProVarmint) and Tikka T1x. The winner used an older Remington single shot which has now been banned from the o"out of commercial production" list, with the rule change made after the Match in September. I shoot in a Postal Club and we see some very good examples of CZ 457 ProVarmint (16.5 inch barrel) and Varmint (24 inch barrel). Both are consistently good shooters. Food for thought...

Thanks for all the replies. Here's my 457 MTR, once I get the trigger where I want it and improve my front rest, I think it will work fine.

At my Club in Western Colorado we shoot informal 100 yard Rim Fire Bench Rest every month in 3 classes. Target Rifle, Factory Bolt Action, and Factory Semi-Auto. We use the IBS Hunter Bench Rest 200 yard target first with a 1" ten ring at 100 yards and then the 100 yard target with a 1/2" ten ring. We put 5 shots on each of the 5 scoring targets and unlimited sighters on the sighting target, with a 30 minute time limit per target. I got bored with my Walther and Weaver T36 competing against other target rifles and switched to FBA with my CZ457 with a Vortex 6.5X20 Viper. I was able to keep up with the target rifles on the larger target with fewer X's, but fell behind on the small one. I did out shoot the other FBA's mainly other CZ's, Ruger 77's and Savages. I have a lighter trigger return spring coming and put an old BSA 36X scope on, and am anxious to see how I do against the target rifles this month. Weather permitting.
