F-Class - Sinclair bipod discontinued

Sinclair has discontinued its fancy $199 bipod that we use for F/TR shooting.

Anyone have an idea if/what they are going to do to replace it?

George

Apparently the discontinued the current model in order to update it with this, no word when it will become available

I spoke to Sinclair back in January to ask if they had plans to bring the "Biggs-style" version to market.
They told me they were hoping to do so by July of this year. I hope it is true.

As for discontinued vs out of stock, I'd guess the latter without having confirmation.
They sell every one they make.

That elevation adjustment will make a lot of F/TR shooters happy.

Looks like a niche market for an after-market retrofit for one of you mechanical genius types (perhaps 21st Century?). The only question is how much it will cost and if Sinclair is going to offer both an improved version and an update kit... It seems a natural evolution in the design.

On the back page of the spring catalog that showed up in the mail yesterday:

"Improved Sinclair F-Class Bipod

+ includes quick adjust elevation knob
+ nearly 1lb lighter than first generation
+ adjustable legs with laser etched graduations
+ more rigid 7075 T6 aluminum material

AVAILABLE AUGUST 1 - ORDER YOURS TODAY"

ps - ETA - "spring catalog" is what's printed on the cover. It's not the big catalog, rather a 24 page mini-catalog.

And when some folks called to order them the girls had no idea what folks were talking about. Apparently sales, marketing and dseign are not working together, I do hear that theres a few prototypes out there.

Hey, only one month later than they projected back in January, not bad!

When I called I was told they don't yet have a SKU for it or a price, gave them my name and customer number, they are to call when they have that information and can complete the order.

Who wants to guess on the price? I'll say $249.99.

I sent an inquiry to Sinclair's customer service email yesterday asking if they had considered offering some kind of upgrade to the first generation bipods.

Their response this morning:

"The new bipod was redesigned and no upgrade for the older bipods are available."

Looks like an opportunity for someone with some mechanical design and fabrication know-how...

Took a snapshot with my phone of the new bipod.

To all:

Revisions and prototypes have taken longer than previously anticipated. We look to have pricing and a part number in place shortly. If you wish to get on our order/notification list please contact us at 1-800-717-8211 or sales@sinclairintl.com. We apologize for the delay and the confusion.

Thank you!

Looking at Ridgeway's posted picture (thanks for that!), the ad states "More rigid 7075 T6 aluminum material." While 7075 is a strong aluminum alloy, modulus of elasticity does not vary enough to matter among the various aluminum alloys. The new design could be more rigid but not as a result of changing to 7075.

BTW, I shoot F-TR with one of the old design and will certainly buy one of these.

Having only recently purchased a first generation model, I just can't imagine buying one twice... Anyone with the know-how to a add vertical adjustment screw to the older one, please PM; I would pay $50 for that feature...

How about a retro kit for us original owners that would include the fine vertical adjustment?
That would keep us happy customers!

Thanks,

Tony

Note that this question was already put to Sinclair. they would rather sell you a new one than provide such a service...

Bad idea on their part, THAT is the kind of service they should provide. It will be a while before I buy from them again...

I received an email from Sinclair this morning saying that they hope to have the new bipod available by late August or September. I think the operative term here is "hope".
