Looking at a F/TR bipod to buy

Hopefully we've confused the heck out of the OP at this point.

oh yea, absolutely! thanks for all the input. i have the choice of the Dolphin and the Sinclair, both used but at a super price. this is going to be my "entry level" purchase just to see if i am going to pursue this type of shooting. further down the road, one of the tier one bipods may be in the offing. at this point, i am leaning towards the Sinclair Gen III.

Take a look at the Flexpod. It's probably safe to say that I've shot most of the commercially available and a few one off bipods out there, and I'll take a flexpod over anything I've tried so far. At just a hair over a pound, it's one of the lightest out there. Pretty much indestructible. Made in the USA! You also get factory support from Dan Pohlabel, world class shooter and all around good guy. Do a search, there's a good article about it on Accurate Shooter. Jade Decambre set a new national F-TR record at Nationals with a Flexpod.

This is my Gnergy bipod

Seem a lot of people prefer the Duplin over the Sinclair. What makes the Duplin better?

I am new to ski types and have a Sinclair gen 3. The benefits were obvious over the Harris right away, however, it took a couple hundred rounds to get a feel for it. I still shoot better vertical with the Harris and I get some unexplained shots with the Sinclair, I "think" because too much cheek pressure and my rings being to low. Definitely different then a Harris and there is a learning curve on changing hold for me but when you are consistent in hold it stacks them in. Musings from a novice,so take it for what it's worth.
Good luck

FWIW I have a Duplin and they are fantastic as has been Clints support. Because I am so far away (other side of the world) and we deal mostly in metric screws I asked Clint to send me extra bolts and T nuts, this was maybe a year after receiving the bipod. Clint was onto it straight away and I received more than I asked for.

Over here Sinclairs (all types) have been pretty much swapped out because of their performance (not great) and weight.

I really like my Duplin, it is very easy to adjust, solid and lightweight. It adjusts reliably with no discernable backlash with the weight of the rifle on it.

Look at the ones that forum member Gnergy makes, I have used them in the past and they are awesome, he is a one on one type of guy and will chat with you to make sure that you have everything that you need.

Memo
This. I usea GNERGY made bipod and it is awesome

Respectfully, Mr. Holland I believe you may be thinking of the Remple bipod being very heavy. I believe it weighs in at near 4 lb vs the 17oz of the Duplin.

Absolutely right - got them quite mixed up. I have seen 'Open' shooters use the Remple very successfully though - a great bit of equipment, weight aside!

For those looking for a super light stable rigid bipod, the MPOD may be just what you are after. I will be shooting 230's this season and the MPOD handles the recoil and torque without any fuss

I just completed the new cant feature which many have asked for. There are kits that can retrofit into any previous MPOD... at 13.5oz, it continues to be the lightest F TR suitable bipod on the market.

Manufactured in the US by EGW. Well priced too.

Contact EGW if you want to order, the website has not been updated yet so cody@egwguns.com is your best bet

Enjoy and thanks to all the MPOD user feedback and pics... have a great season.

I believe 3 members of the US FTR team are now using the MPOD

Swadiver, I have the Dolphin bipod and the Sinclair III bipod. I did not like the Dolphin because it would migrate up and down a little, then all of a sudden release back to it's original position. I was always struggling with the elevation. I am using the Sinclair III right now, however I am using it with like one would use the Sinclair II, without making elevation adjustments. It works just fine.
