Experienced reloaders help required please with neck turning.

Sam,

Everything I have is Sinclair and am happy with it. Spend the extra money and get the carbide turning mandrel. You'll still need lube (I use Shooters Choice FP10) but it makes turning easier. Get the screwdriver turning adapter and proper shell holder for it and chuck it up in the cheap Black and Decker hand held rechargeable screwdriver. Perfect RPM for turning. I have two and switch off when the battery gets tired in one.
I adjust mine using the mic a bullet you intend to use in a dummy round method. Loaded round diameter is the most important way of getting the right turn because all .308 diameter bullets are not exactly .308. I've got them from .30790-.30835 depending on bullet used so I turn my necks for the largest bullet that I may encounter.

robbobsam....Unless your case necks are R E A L L Y out of whack, turning necks will do very little to reduce ES/SD. Cartridge components(bullets, powder, cases, and primers) along with barrel uniformity are more important for internal ballistics. Good luck. gpoldblue
