Eric Cortina's 500 yard BlackJack Challenge

I’m impressed, the guy from Ohio (I think) got 4 with peep sights. Frick’n amazing.

That guy shot the $100 mulligan too. I haven’t seen yet whether mulligans aired, but he’s an absolutely swell guy. He had rounds left at 2 minutes, each time, but maybe only one or two on the second. I talked to him about whether he’s coming back. Says it’s probably too far. phhheeeeew. :).

The group was so large that it was halved and two episodes were made today. The one in my group had an Ohio gentleman that shoots nearby Camp Perry with a very serious and high end appearing micro-adjustable fitted chassis target rifle. I know that the best sets are in the 4 figure range, and his looked to be at a level like the best sights I’ve seen, quite possibly always on that rifle. Good videos lay in store.
Great job Dad! Looked like a lot of fun.

Anyone else worried about the two guys shooting the CMP AR getting scope rash on their forehead while looking through the iron sights? I've also noticed about half the people over the last couple of episodes aren't wearing glasses? There's a vocal contingent at my club refusing to wear glasses but it always surprises me for some reason.

I think I'd like to make up a set of targets but scaled to 500m (our range is a metallic silhouette range, with the rams at 500m). That 2" (2.2 for 500m) target would be tough. Most of those guys have more money into their scopes and mounts than I have in my whole outfit!
The fast shooters can always slow down if they like. The time acts as a tie breaker anyway. WH

Why did the open sights guy think it was a good idea to shoot his rifle free hand?

Most people dont have an opportunity to shoot "blind" like that at 500 yards. They play video games or hear stories and think it's easy.

I see the same thing at our private range. Guys with 338 improved lapua mags blowing ear drums at 100 yards. Try and get them out to 500? Not a chance, because they know I'd embarrass them with a 223. :)

I'm really enjoying this series... but man... the amount of feeding issues!
I can’t fathom it. I don’t shoot anything anymore that’s known to feed well, and there’s more failures in one of these videos than I’ve had in years.

I’d like to go down there sometime. Looks fun.
