Like most of you guys, I love to shoot but these past couple years reloading components have been in very short supply, mostly primers so I've been rationing my shooting to make my supplies last for limited practice and varmint / predator hunting.
Well today was a lousy weather day, so I took a trip to my favorite gun shop which I have been patronizing for about 35 years just to see if they had any 22 CCI Standard Vel since I've been shooting a lot of 22 pistol lately.
To my complete surprise they had Federal 205M (small rifle match) and 100 (small pistol) primers!!! I couldn't believe it! It's been almost 2 years since I've seen any locally. I purchased a brick of each plus some 231-pistol powder, Hornaday bullets, and a brick of CCI 22's. It felt like the "good old days."

, well maybe since it was hard to swallow the prices, i.e., those primers were $100 and $90 respectively per brick. So, I guess it will be beans and hog dogs for the next couple of weeks.
I'm declaring the end of rationing - going to shoot as much as I want - hell at my age, why wait.
Now if the weather will just cooperate!
PS: They also had quite a selection of powders but I'm good on that for the foreseeable future; purchased an 8 lbs. keg of rifle powder before the "peanut butter" hit the fan.
