ELEY Announces Whidden Gunworks as Official Test Center

ELEY are pleased to announce the selection of Whidden Gunworks as the official US Test Center.

The new center will boast capabilities for testing at both 50m and 100m in a controlled indoor environment as well as providing a lane for shooting out of the shoulder.

Uniquely, the center will be the only site in the US to offer testing of all the most recognized brands in one place. But, as a partner with ELEY, testing staff will be carefully trained to perform ELEY testing with our proven standards, test methodology, electronic targets and proprietary software.

Using the exacting formula developed at our UK test center, all ELEY batch testing begins with a minimum of 15 lots. During testing, 10 shots are fired from each lot and the most promising batches are identified. A further 30 shots are then fired from those selections. The resultant 40 shot group size is then consolidated and recorded by the ELEY software; making analyzing fast, simple and accurate.

Plans are in place to expand testing protocols to include rimfire pistol and air rifle and pistol pellet testing to support the ELEY tenex air line of pellets.

Still in the final stages of development, we are looking for a May opening. You can follow the development of the facility, check pricing and secure a test session by visiting www.whiddengunworks.com

Congratulations to Whidden Gunworks and John Whidden himself , IMO Eley has place the right man in place to meet the task. All the best John.

Shame it's Nashville, GA not TN.
Finding the right home for the test center was paramount in the decision process. If Georgia is too much of a drive, guns can be shipped. John has worked out a fantastic shipping program that ensures you aren't without your rifle too long and you have immediate feedback to base your selections on. He was even considering a Zoom opportunity whereby you could actually view not only the results of the test, but the test itself. I'm sure that within the first few months, the process will be fine tuned and tweaked to create the best possible customer experience.

If there is only one testing center, they should have chosen a location in the middle of the country. Georgia is too far away for me. I will *not* ship a rifle; I will only show up in person.

Road Trip!
There were a myriad of considerations in the selection of the location. John's competitive background, his competency with gunsmithing and tool making, the cohesiveness of his staff, his vision and his integrity far outpaced plopping a test center down in the middle of the country.
It'll be worth the trip.

If they had decent lot amounts of Lapua, it might be worth the 4 1/2 hour trip. As for Eley, meh.......................

This is currently the only ELEY test center in the US.
Aren't they planning to test multiple brands of ammo? If so I was thinking that it's a very good location with others on the other side of the country? Isn't the Lapua testing center, one of them, in Arizona?

Or is this just the most recognized Eley brands?

I'm not trying to be snide here, but there is always Arizona or Ohio Lapua test centers for you.

When I was in Widden's just over 2 weeks ago he had Lapua in there. Probably not enough lots to get you to travel, but possibly, especially if you pick up a csse or 2. We were told this stuff comes and goes quickly. That was emphasized on everything, and obviously it does.

I've never been in another place with as much 22lr on the shelf as at Widden's.
SK, Lapua, Eley, Norma, RWS.

When I was there they had ELEY Club, Target, Match, Tenex. There could have been more but I wasn't really looking that hard. I should have been.

My buddy and I will be going back for testing. It's a short 2 hour drive and it gives us something to do that we enjoy.

Great! It would be about a 3-4 hr drive for me. Please check back with what you find out. :)

Please pardon my ignorance on this. Am I correct in saying that I could send or take a new rifle to this facility and they ( for a fee, of course ) test it with any number of common factory loads/brands at various bullet weights and determine what that particular gun/barrel shoots best? If so, could be a time and money saver, depending of course on their charge structure.
