Electric Cars -- anyone own one?

So here in CA it is REALLY hot for the next week at least and they issue what they call a Flex Alert on the power grid, some have meters that throttle back your power and there's things you aren't supposed to do....like charge you electric car. Right no we have a wildfire going and many are under evacuation orders. But what if you were a good citizen and didn't charge your car up ? So every time it's hot you can't charge your car and get to work ? You're supposed to keep your car full of gas in case of an emergency and gas for the generator but they don't make a battery to charge your battery. No thanks.

Not sure if you saw what a shortage Europe is facing;

It's pretty comical. If you want to see where all of this is going, look to Europe. For the last decade Europe has been shutting down their energy production facilities while telling their citizens that they are "transitioning" to green energy. The population is starting to understand that they were lied to. What they were doing all along is "transitioning" to foreign energy and away from their own energy. Germany shutdown most of their nuclear facilities in favor of Russian natural gas. Other countries in Europe have been following suit and shutting down production within their own countries. Now that Russia has shutdown natural gas to Europe, the lies are coming home to roost. The result is 41% energy inflation in the last month. It is believed that the cost of energy may increase over 100% this winter. That will take all individual disposable income off the table and result in the collapse of much of Europe's business. People will be forced to decide between food and heat. It's already happening and the winter has not arrived.

So the difference between the US in Europe is that in the US we had no alternative energy supplier like Russia on our border when this administration began their war on energy. The result here is the same as in Europe, high inflation due to high energy costs and bad public policy. We won't freeze this winter like much of Europe may, but we will be bankrupt paying for energy just as Europe nearly is.

But California is a special case of stupid. They shutdown their production facilities and are banning the sale of gas cars. Even at this point you now can't charge your electric car at times. California will look like China under Mao. Millions of people riding their 1 speed bicycles. I only hope they are forced to wear the same Mao outfits.

Nothing like a little exercise to thin down their fat liberal butts.
Stuff that Pizza in your face while you drink your "diet" soda.:oops:
I see LOTS of Tesla's and wonder, how long before they won't be able to "fill it up" when it's 110*?
Cut down on your electricity use, no AC when it's pushing 110*+ and you can't fill up your Tesla? That goes over like a pay toilet in a diarrhea ward.:mad::rolleyes:

It'll go over just fine. These people will never look in the mirror to discover the source of the stupidity, they will blame you. They already are blaming you. Not only will they blame you, they will spend every dime in your pocket to prove that you are to blame and to alleviate their plight.

OP: Who's owned an electric car?

Forum: 30+ pages of complaining about the government. :D
You should have read the pages. There are a number who have. Some good experiences, some so-so. Given that owning one is a form of wokeness in the context of current times there should no question as to the "why" the thread followed the direction it has.

What I find odd is that the owners of said vehicles have not commented on the fact that they are discouraged from charging them in California.

I know, just having some fun. I personally wouldn't have an issue with a hybrid at all. Seems like the Prius will rack up the miles and gets amazing gas mileage to boot. Not sure I would commit to full EV right now but I can see the changes coming and eventually it will be a much broader option for people as the infrastructure grows. Gas powered cars have a 100 year history of development, fuel and road improvements. Other than really early vehicles, there hasn't been near the development around EV autos so I would expect it to take some time.

I have an issue with the Prius. Every one of them including the current versions look like they were hit with an ugly stick. Now the new Jeep, that's another story. Tried to talk my wife into the hybrid but she balked at a 10,000 dollar premium for it. Then again she even balked at the premium for a Rubicon. Ended up with a 2 door sport. Manual windows, manual locks, terrible stereo but a fun little jeep. It could be so much more... I might have to sell my truck and get one.

I try not to comment on california craziness. I can tell you one thing, like wearing a mask that doesnt work, if the electricity is flowing id charge my car. I think they all ought to charge them at the same time. People need to see the results of who theyve voted for all these years.

Just saw this on facebook.

Armageddon is on its way............
those of you that think electric vehicles are the answer- this is a true story from a farmer in the Midwest-
A close friend farms over 10,000 acres of corn in the mid-west. The property is spread out over 3 counties. His operation is a "partnership farm" with John Deere. They use the larger farm operations as demonstration projects for promotion and development of new equipment. He recently received a phone call from his John Deere representative, and they want the farm to go to electric tractors and combines in 2023. He currently has 5 diesel combines that cost $900,000 each that are traded in every 3 years. Also, over 10 really BIG tractors.
JD wants him to go all electric soon.
He said: "Ok, I have some questions. How do I charge these combines when they are 3 counties away from the shop in the middle of a cornfield, in the middle of nowhere?" "How do I run them 24 hours a day for 10 or 12 days straight when the harvest is ready, and the weather is coming in?" "How do I get a 50,000+ lb. combine that takes up the width of an entire road back to the shop 20 miles away when the battery goes dead?"
There was dead silence on the other end of the phone.
When the corn is ready to harvest, it has to have the proper sugar and moisture content. If it is too wet, it has to be put in giant dryers that burn natural or propane gas, and lots of it. Harvest time is critical because if it degrades in sugar content or quality, it can drop the value of his crop by half a million dollars or more. It is analyzed at time of sale. It is standard procedure to run these machines 10 to 12 days straight, 24 hours a day at peak harvest time. When they need fuel, a tanker truck delivers it, and the machines keep going. John Deere's only answer is "we're working on it." They are being pushed by the government to force these electric machines on the American farmer. We need them to understand and stop messing with the production of food crops that feed people and livestock... all in the name of the "green dream."
Look for the cost of your box of cornflakes to triple in the next 24 months...”
Wake up! Stand up! Speak up!
Let's return sanity to our nation.

Just saw this on facebook.

That should have been your first warning.

“John Deere does not have a partner farm program.” They also said that they “never called farmers to ask that they switch to electric tractors by 2023.” Perhaps most important, the spokesperson said that the company “has no plans for battery operated/electric large tractors and combines.” In other words, the viral story appeared to not even be a possibility in reality.

SO, who believes EVERYTHING you see or hear in the media?
Trump had A DEAL with the Russians. Took a while but we finally saw "the rest of the story". :(
Nancy's bedmate got busted for DUI? The CHP took away his "get out of jail free" card? You REALLY think the butt kissers would bite the hand that feeds them?
Folks (the media) jumped all over him/her for insider trading THEN, said he took it in the shorts because he sold a bunch of stock so, "that made it OK"?
SO, the John Deer guys say it BS? Whoever wrote it had an AGENDA, as do MOST people these days. Maybe JD was trying to boost their image??
When the power Company tells me to turn the thermostat up to 80* when it's pushing 110*, I wonder just who wants me to pop for an ELECTRIC powered vehicle. Sure as hell isn't Brandon. He's not smart enough to know/remember what City he's in.:oops:
I keep going back to George Strait and "Ocean Front Property in Arizona".
Reminds me of my Mom saying, "don't believe anything you hear and only half of what you see". Only thing about that is the fact that it's outdated. With the way they can twist video to what you're seeing to what they WANT you to see, you can't believe anything. Where's the Easter Bunny or the Tooth Fairy when I need them . Pay no attention to that Man behind the Curtain.
