Electric Cars -- anyone own one?

You're not just whistling Dixie brother . People just can't seem to fathom the truth ,this Planet Earth is constantly evolving ,as in evolutionary changes and what we humans do ,is of little to NO consequences !.

Volcanic activity ISN'T a by product of Co2 or Hydrocarbon emissions or how much oil is taken out of the Earth or 10 million 55 CC powered ICE leaf blowers . The BIG picture is our Planet is shifting axis and volcanic activity is UP WORLD WIDE . And that does Emit a crap load of Co2 .

If politicians and scientist were serious about curbing pollution , they'd be shutting down 50% of ALL Shipping and Air Transportation WORLD WIDE and insisting manufacturing be done at point of consumption !. Yes it really is just that easy ,except for the GREED and Power factors involved !!!.
I have been bringing up volcanoes for years. There's a book entitled: "The Year Without Summer". Good read for anyone interested in knowing what a single volcano can do to the planet. This one was in Indonesia yet it impacted climate around the world. Crop failures and famine everywhere. And yet this one was a fraction of what is currently buried under Yellowstone.

Nature is a mother. Don't ever piss her off.

I'd also like to point out at any given day there can be #38 or more ACTIVE volcanoes World Wide .
Just because a volcano doesn't erupt doesn't mean it's not actively spewing toxic gases or causing problems .
Iceland is a Prime example of an extremely DANGEROUS situation , Not going to try pronouncing those names but an overdue eruption of one of the largest magnaflows under KATLA is impending DOOM !.

If Yellowstone ever decides to erupt ,it may very well end the USA ,as we now know it !!!.
https://www.volcanodiscovery.com/volcanoes/today.html

1. KATLA (Iceland)
Last erupted:
1918
Effects of a major eruption: If Katla goes off, its eruption will be 10 times stronger than Eyjafjallajokull's. Katla's larger ash plume would shoot higher in the air and spread over larger areas of Europe for a longer period, with much more devastating effects on air travel and economic trade. An eruption could tip Europe's economy — perhaps even the world's — back into severe recession or a depression.
Likelihood: Fairly high. The two volcanoes, only 12 miles apart, tend to erupt in tandem, and Katla is slightly overdue in its 80-year cycle.

How many active volcanoes are there on Earth?

https://www.usgs.gov/faqs/how-many-active-volcanoes-are-there-earth

There are about 1,350 potentially active volcanoes worldwide, aside from the continuous belts of volcanoes on the ocean floor at spreading centers like the Mid-Atlantic Ridge. About 500 of those 1,350 volcanoes have erupted in historical time. Many of those are located along the Pacific Rim in what is known as the "Ring of Fire." In the United States, volcanoes in the Cascade Range and Alaska (Aleutian volcanic chain) are part of the Ring, while Hawaiian volcanoes form over a 'hot spot' near the center of the Ring.
There are 161 potentially active volcanoes in the United States and its territories.

I do live close to MT.Shasta here in Far Northern Cullafornia, hopefuly it is not ready to go off. Volcanos are like electric cares as when they blow they both get very hot I have heard....lol

I know you wanted to get info from an owner but, if you live in a cold area I’ve heard that they don’t charge well in the cold. I also just read an article of a Tesla that got in a crash and it burst into flames and took 1000 gal of water to put out, after they put it out and towed it to the junkyard, it burnt four more times from the battery and took a total of 6000 gal of water to put out all the fires. I just don’t want anybody to get hurt. Just my two cents.
Only an idiot would put water on a battery fire,, useless, that was probably the problem, if people just new how to do their job's today,, 90% don't and are only their for paycheck, not the work!

Watched "myth busters" type show on electrics for one hour. Program was very comprehensive and well done. On factor stood out. In the electrics the air conditioning is very efficient....heat NOT...it is a real drain on charge life.
Also the range estimates are sorta unrealistic...very hot weather and very cold weather makes a big difference in charge life. Electrics are good for certain environments and applictions but as a replacement for gas...not close to there yet.

Gas was no substitute for a horse at one time either! Charging stations and service garages, and everything thing else that go with it will take time. But imagine the jobs created building them, and tech's that will be required to maintain them. I doubt I will have one at 67 years old, but I do see many good things from this in the future, and like I said, long before mandating electric cars was talked about, the auto industry committed to it publicly,,, I'd say they see the economic future in it, and Americas loss if the don't jump now to be one of the leaders.

Like wind turbines, we watched the Swiss and other countries lead the way, and today most in this country being put up by investment groups,,, not the government, are foreign, with GE just starting to get in on this market. Like it or not, investors with big money to spend, and a history of getting richer, saw something in it as well, they didn't wait for American manufacturers to get on board.

I hope we don't let electric cars reap the same penalties, those are American jobs,,,, and good paying American jobs, from manufacturing to building charge stations not to mention the equipment that has to be built to install in those facilities!!!

Where does America loose?????

By having the government get involved and mandate the lack of choice.
There was no mandate when all three US manufacturers said "THIS WHAT WE ARE DOING" over three years ago, I think more like 4 years ago, but long before any mandates! The government jumped on board afterwards!

But did the Government already advise them they would get on board with help getting the charging stations they would need up and running???? probably, but they would be stupid to set back and watch what will be one of the biggest industries leave them watching!

The first Government mandates on a state level date back to the early/mid 90's.

If you research State and Federal laws that have been passed over the last 20 years, you will find increases of production totals and sales required by law.

The way it works is that manufacturers are required to produce/sell a percentage by federal law. This backs up states that have required manufacturers to offer hybrid or electric vehicles long before the feds got involved. To further the project the federal government pays people to buy through tax incentives.

What we are seeing now, is the mandated dates established as long ago 1990(?) by California approaching. 2030 was not a date that was dreamed up within the last 5 years.

This frog has been boiling for more than 30 years.

Very interesting video, F150 hybrid vs Rivian truck. Towing cost comparison. 7400# trailer. Of course the distance was short about 57 miles because of the EV took a huge range hit actually towing(started with 85% charge). And they had to buy premium fuel to see a cost saving of 4 dollars by the EV. With the explanation that for most charging at home would cost more because of inefficient charging systems. I think if they would have run a straight 5.0L gas truck(15000+ cheaper to purchase than the hybrid) the fuel cost for the gas truck would have been lower(better mileage than the hybrid) and beat the EV truck outright.

Dude you've been pimping this crap everywhere. You do know that Europe is buying their energy from Russia and lying to the public telling them that they are going green don't you? They shutdown their energy production and shifted to Russia while replacing 2 percent with wind and patting themselves on the back. The wind we see is the wind of change signaling the demise of western civilization. Hopefully Russia will cut off gas and oil shipments to Europe and hasten the downfall. Stupidity yields such rewards. Darwin demands them.

Heres the only dedicated charging system i know of in little rock. He has 2 chargers, 4 plugs, and i have yet to see a car there. He installed a pretty cool connex waiting room with a vending machine and a bathroom. The part of town its in i dont expect anyone to ever stop there. Its pretty much a homeless shelter now. 9D8CFB85-7A77-48CE-8941-3CC6958FAD3C.jpegBA1D8612-0D78-4BB8-8F93-6B32C5CBC8B1.jpeg

Yes there will be millions of good paying jobs to benefit the new green bs. I question where will the workers come from. Have you seen the quality of job ready graduates that are coming out of our current "education" system? Uh ya I will be with you when I get done texting..

So glad that the government is going to fund all this chit, and not the dwindling taxpayers.

Just so everyone understands Europe's "leadership" in green energy. It is a hoax. We in the US were headed down that same path with respect to cutting our energy production, buying it from Russia and telling the public (those dumb enough to listen) that it was all green. Then came the Ukraine and the Biden's plan was foiled. Now they are trying to talk Iran and Venezuela into making up the difference. We are headed down the same path as Europe. Couple of articles from just this morning cover the consequences:

The thing that these leftists fools don't understand is that energy is the life blood of the world. Without it we, quite literally, die. Food production stops, pumps to run water to homes stop, for heat in ones abode people are back to burning Yak turds, if an abode is available since the industry required to cut lumber, make nails, sinks, toilets, facuets and everything in your home as you look around is gone as all require energy to produce. The computers we use to communicate in the modern age are gone. The stage short of no energy is the stage Europe is at and we are not far behind. We may even be leading. Scarcity of a resource in demand (such as energy) cause the price to rise and the price of everything dependent on that resource. Both Europe and the US are seeing the impact of that as inflation is at 40 year highs and economies across the globe face the real threat of severe recession. Meanwhile governments keep spending money they don't have thereby injecting cash into their economies, further exacerbating the situation... Darwin will have his say in the matter.

Charging stations and service garages, and everything thing else that go with it will take time.
And a land mass area the size of Texas, no exaggeration, to build the non fossil fuel sources...ie solar/wind...that will give the additional billions of KWH's to service those millions of charging stations. There are no free lunches! It is just "save the planet" delusion. Who is going to pay the estimated 17 plus Trillion dollars to do that? That is where the "take time" part comes in I suppose. Seriously?
FWIW: Even Obama's own "climate czar" said this winter that that there are temperature changes but "nothing outside the historic norm"...Hello!?

Windmill Facts

That little yellow thing at the top of the picture is a CAT-9 bulldozer. It is burying acres and acres of windmill blades used for “Green Energy.” Why?

Because these blades need to be disposed of, and there is presently no way to recycle them. That’s how green energy works! Who knew? Maybe the people that make them knew. Why would they let that cat out of the bag? After all, they are government-subsidized with tax-payer money (just like every electric car). Also, politicians do not want those huge eyesores in their backyard.

Right now, the average wind farm contains about 150 turbines. Each wind turbine needs 80 gallons of oil as a lubricant, and we're not talking about vegetable oil, this is a PAO synthetic oil based on crude. 12,000 gallons of it for 150 turbines, and that oil needs to be replaced once a year. It is estimated that a little over 3,800 turbines would be needed to power a city the size of New York... That's 304,000 gallons of refined oil per year for just one city. That’s 25+ wind farms.

Now, you have to calculate every city across the nation, large and small, to find the grand total of yearly oil consumption from “clean” energy. Where do you think all that oil is going to come from? Well, since January 2021, it comes from our enemies in the Mideast. Not to mention the fact that the large equipment needed to build these wind farms runs on petroleum. As well as the equipment required for installation, service, maintenance, and eventual removal. And just exactly how eco-friendly is wind energy anyway?

Each turbine requires a footprint of 1.5 acres, so a wind farm of 150 turbines needs 225 acres. To power a city the size of NYC, you'd need 57,000 acres; and who knows the astronomical amount of land you would need to power the entire US. All of which would have to be clear-cut land because trees create a barrier and turbulence that interferes with the 20mph sustained wind velocity necessary for the turbine to work properly. Also, keep in mind that not all states are suitable for such sustained winds. Boy, cutting down all those trees is gonna upset a lot of green-loving tree-huggers.

Let's now talk about disposal.

The lifespan of a modern, top-quality, highly efficient wind turbine is 20 years. After that, what happens to those gigantic fiber composite blades? They cannot be economically reused, refurbished, reduced, repurposed, or recycled. So, it's off to special landfills they go. And, they're already running out of these special landfill spaces for the used blades that have already exceeded their usefulness. Those blades are anywhere from 120 ft. to over 200 ft. long, and there are 3 per turbine. And that's with only 3% to 7% of the nation currently being supplied with (intermittent, i.e., unreliable) wind energy. Just imagine if we had the other 93% of the nation on the wind grid... 20 years from now you'd have all those unusable blades with no place to put them... Then 20 years after that, and 20 years after that, and so on. “Green energy?”

Also, about 500,000 birds are killed each year from wind turbine blade collisions, many of which are endangered hawks, falcons, owls, geese, ducks, and eagles. Apparently, smaller birds are more agile and able to dart and dodge out of the way of the spinning blades, whereas the larger soaring birds aren't so lucky.

Here's another problem with windmills. The generator and switching equipment operate at high power and voltage. Everything in the windmill nacelle (look it up) is compact due to limited space, so there's a danger of arcs and electrical fires. This is prevented by putting all the electrical equipment in a pressure vessel filled with sulfur hexafluoride (SF6), a synthetic gas that has dielectric properties which suppress arcs and fires. However, windmills leak this gas, something around a pound each per year. SF6 has an atmospheric lifetime of 3,200 years and is 22,800 times more effective as a greenhouse gas than carbon.

THIS IS ANOTHER ITEM THAT FALLS UNDER THE CATEGORY OF, “GEE WHIZ, I GUESS WE DIDN’T THINK THIS THROUGH”(!!!)
ARE YOU LISTENING, AOC?

It's not the gasoline or the grease that get things going and keeps them rolling, that will get the attention of some people.

It will be the Maybelline.

Gasoline, Vaseline, Maybelline, all come out of the same hole in the ground.
