No one is trying to hamstring technological advancements. If and when the times comes where the vast majority of HighPower ranges go to e-targets, then "generally speaking" everyone will be on the same footing. Right now it's just like drag racing. There are a myriad of "classes" from "Pure Stock" to "Pro Stock" to "Funny Cars" to the "Top Fuel Dragsters".. They can run classes against classes IF the "Tree" can be set so that some cars get a head start, ergo a delay! That way it evens out the playing field. I think that by the same token, a delay will keep the "Pull Target" clubs on the same playing field as the "E-Target" clubs. If the vast majority of clubs eventually go to E-Targets and they are all on the same playing field, then that is another matter. Having said that, look at it this way. If you go to the Berger Southwest Nationals out here in Phoenix, the entirety of the week is run on "Manual Pull Targets". The 33 mins you have been allotted will have significant wind changes during that time. If you are used to shooting with NO DELAY and can get off at least 2 shots on the E Target compared to the Pull Targets with an average puller. You can conceivably "run" a couple of short races during a certain condition and put twice as many shots down during that time frame. If you get say 8 shots down during that time compared to 3 or 4 for the pull targets, you can finish in a lot less time, therefore fewer wind conditions than a pull target. You should be able to score somewhat higher>>>>but you will eventually lose any "edge" you may have had by not having to shoot in all the conditions. So when you do go to an all pull target match, like the BSWN, you may be at a disadvantage! So, by keeping a delay you will maintain that edge because you will be forced to shoot all the same conditions that a pull target will.. It is NOT hamstringing technology, it is allowing the rest of the clubs to eventually catch up on an even playing field, that's all..
