So no carbon in barrel and leave carbon in case neck or did I get that backwards lol. Lock ease guy here cheap and does what I need

Is it possible to mix some graphite with alcohol ?

To all that responded to this post, I was just kinda asking a redundant question, as he was mentioning cost.
Personally, I don't use dry neck lube. As I have said before, I am a hunting rifle shooter and far from a consistent 1's shooter.

I like the 21 Century moly lube with the beads. I wipe the outside neck off before sizing and consider what’s left in the neck to be sufficient for seating.

I started using NeoLube #2 on my formed 20 VarTarg brass for first firing, as it really makes a difference in bullet seating / neck tension. I think after the first firing, if you keep the carbon in the necks, that's a good "lube" of sorts. I used to ultrasonic clean my brass after every firing, but watched an Erik Cortina video, where he said he quit cleaning brass between firings, as it made no difference. I think running a nylon cleaning brush through the necks before loading is a good idea. But on first firing, at least the dry Sinclair neck lube or NeoLube, or others, is a great idea! A lot more consistent neck tension and no "welding" of the bullet to the necks over time.

I use graphite inside my Lapua cases on the first firing. Without it my first few firings are slow and erractic.

I never tried that experiment. Give it a shot. Maybe I will too when my Neolube runs out. There are thin references online that "Froggy's neck lube" may have been just that.

A couple of years ago I tried Lock-Ease graphited lock fluid for lubricating necks and was not satisfied with it. It suspends the graphite in other solvents, not alcohol. As I recall it took a long time to dry and the lubrication quality was not as good as using graphite powder.

I mix graphite with alcohol. It does work, but the graphite settles down. I have it in a wide mouthed small container. I use the dip and swirl method to apply. I take the case out and immediately wipe the outside. Then i let it dry upright and it dries quick. If I don’t swirl, there is a lot less deposit of graphite. When I do swirl, I get a complete and even layer of graphite. I think I put about 10 percent graphite to alcohol by volume.

I use a similar powder graphite brand and do same as you.
