Douglas Barrels?

I am thinking of chambering a douglas barrel in 6br. Anyone know if a douglas barrel is worth trying or should I go with a different barrel? Could someone tell me what "chrome moly in white" means? I know what chrome moly is but I don't understand the white part. Chrome moly barrels seem to be less expensive than stainless is there a reason for this? Thanks, Brian.

douglas makes a good barrel, but you want to make sure douglas laps the bore themselves or whichever smith you send it to laps the barrel. in the white is just the normal state of the barrel--bare steel and not blued. i am shooting an 18" 1-7' twist barrel on my longrange ar-15--Compass Lake did the fininshing for me and i installed it to the receiver--it shoots great.

Douglas makes a good barrel, my .284 XP-100 wears one and it shoots just fine.
Stainless has always been more expensive than chrome moly....

There is a local gunsmith that uses Douglas premium air guaged barrels exclusively. He buys them (for the most part) threaded, chambered and lapped and does the final fitting himself. He has had very good luck with these.

I have a Douglas chrome moly 7mm-08 featherweight barrel on a hunting rifle and it shoots very well. I put a 6.5-284 stainless fluted 26" barrel on a Savage action and it shot lights out for 1,200 rounds. Nuttin wrong with a Douglas.

Some folks think chrome moly barrels collect rust easily, but not true. Stainless will rust also.
