Douglas Barrel

I sent a Winchester model 70 to Douglas Barrels to get a new tube put on. I’m very pleased with the work that they did. Got it chambered in 22-250 that is 26” and it looks great. Talk about fast turnaround….it took less than 30 days from start to finish. They are so fast, the barreled action came back before I got the scope I ordered for the rifle (how often can you say that). Very well packed to make sure no damage occurs during shipment. As soon as the scope gets here I will head out to the range for the first shots.

Just had a friend in Fla send a 98 mauser to Stan for a 8 MM Mauser barrel and bluing, no doubt he will be pleased with the results..

I have several rifles with Douglas barrels, and they are supremely accurate. Mine were installed by my local rifle smith.

One of my favorite custom 10-22's was done up by Clark, and features a Douglas HB at 16.5"....it's the best shooting 22LR auto I've ever owned. Literally zillions of ground squirrels would attest to it's effectiveness.

Rick you're an Oregonian so maybe you'll know the answer to this but around Baker City Or. they used to have some kind of sage rat roundup or derby, do they still do that? I've seen pictures of pickup beds filled full from all the sage rats pilled up that people turned in.

B23, yeah, I've heard of that going on annually a few years ago, but have not heard anything since. The bunny-huggers have been at it trying to eliminate coyote calling contests here the past few years, so those idiots may be involved in reducing or eliminating the rat shoot too. Don't really know for sure.

With the popularity of rat shooting, the number of folks now into the pastime, locating friendly ranches that have not leased their property to "outfitters/guides" is becoming more difficult every year. That fact alone may be the reason we haven't heard much about the Rat Roundup. Sorry I can't be of more help on this one.

I had just commented on someone else's post about how good Douglas does, and getting a barreled action turned around. No one can hang with them. Stan truly enjoys his job with Douglas. He is a gun guys gun Guy. Stan and crew do great work. I plan to stop by to see the crew at Douglas shortly while on a road trip. They can't be beat. This is just one more of many great stories that comes out of Douglas Barrels.
