Does AR comp contain de-coppering agent?

Hells Bells guys it's the greatest 22-250 powder ever, with no produced load data, or actual experience other than a few people. This stuff is capable of great accuracy in a rifle that likes it.

and we changed it to our primary propellant in both the 168gr and 175gr Gold Medal Match 308 Win loads.

There it is there I wonder what year . IMHO that was the dumbest thing they’ve done in a long time . Fixing something that ain’t broke . . That explains why Fed GMM does not shoot as well as it once did for me . I’m actually kind of glad to find this out cus I thought it was me haha .

I hate it when companies do this . I’m in construction and I’ve been in construction for 35 years . This means I’ve used many Products over the years and I found some that I really like using .

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve used a specific product for 10 or 15 years knowing it’s the best or one of the best on the market then all of a sudden it just turns to crap . The problem is I don’t know that at the time and I only learn it when the customer calls me back due to a failure of some type and I see the product that once was great failed quickly .

That kind of crap cost people money time and effort . If you’re going to change it , tell the people that use it or just make another product with a plus symbol on it meaning it’s slightly different than the other or something .

Fixing shit that ain’t broken has never made sense to me . Well other than saving money at the expense of others .

I had to go get that round I pulled to get the powder for from my secret stash I put away for the zombie apocalypse . I have a bout 100 rounds of it well 99 now and I don’t even care to keep it now that I know that it’s garbage and it wasn’t just me not shooting well . Can you tell I’m getting more and more bitter the more I write LOL . I better stop now before I start throwing the keyboard .

Oh and also makes you look like a dumb ass when you start stating facts on reloading forums that turn out to be wrong . :-(

I tried pointing this out as you said, it is essentially interchangeable for burn rate and velocity for H4895 (which is very close to 8208 also), but it has a killer decoppering agent and the lots are way more consistent. Not to mention being the least temp sensitive powder on the market.

The more I test it in all my calibers I find it pretty much replaces a lot of powders. I only shoot AR Comp, R16, and R23 these days, except for LT32.

Some 5 round groups from my service rifle barrel.

Outstanding!

My buddy Troy is testing AR Comp right now with the 22-250 and 55 grain bullets. I assumed it was going to be a killer. What did you find?

AR Comp is BY FAR the greatest powder no one uses... It is the BEST more useful powder I have found in my 30 years of shooting. Add in R16 and R23 and you really do't need anything else.

Shhhh. Keep it our little secret.

@urbanrifleman Well I finally got my 6mm BR Norma and most certainly had to give AR Comp a try. Taking your advice. Well I done a rough ladder test with the 64 gr Berger (3 shot groups) .010 off with AR Comp starting at 30 grs to 32.5 grs with .5 intervals. The largest group was .274, the smallest was .023 and the average of all 6 groups was .199. I'm not a competitive shooter nor a great shot, nor is this an expensive bench gun, but I just could not believe what I was looking at. I'm not use to that level of accuracy this early in load development. Guess I'll be getting more AR Comp.

Federal also changed their Gold Medal shotshells a couple/three years ago. Went to a brass plated steel base instead of brass. Still a good shell, but why pay premium price for a steel base hull?

This is what I found. Mine is the group to the left. 3 shots , 200 yards.

53 gr Vmax because my Rem. 700 ADL does not know it's not a 14 twist.:D

Yes the "Gold Medal Grand" plastic shell has steel base(white hull). The old brown plastic hulls are brass base. I have scads of the old ones, even ones from the 70's and 80'sy dad shot with the black ink on the hulls. I can't say 100% that the new paper shells have steel base or brass base.

I apologize for the hijack. Just checking the Federal Premium website, it appears the Gold Medal Grand paper shells have a brass base. Good news because they got away from the 12S3 was and went with a two-piece 12C5.
