Does AR comp contain de-coppering agent?

Just wondering if AR Comp contains any ingredients that decrease or remove copper fouling similair to CFE223 or others. Also, if it does contain these ingredients, does it leave a brownish/black soot in the bore after firing like CFE223 does?
Thanks Guys!

I don't think so but it is much more temp stable than CFE and BLC.

I think it does because in Quickload there is a C* besides the powder name, indicating it contains at least a little bit of copper reducing additive.

And NO... Unlike a regular reloading manual, the C* in Quickload doesn't mean "Compressed".

It's my understanding that it does have ingredients that reduces copper fouling. I wouldn't say it actually "removes" any copper fouling, just that there's very little if any. And in my barrels, it leaves some kind of grey coating (see pics below).

. . . and it cleans up quite well.

Thanks for the pics StraightShooter1 I get the same views in my barrels with Comp.

That's why I am asking, because I saw the "C" on Quickload, but can't find it anywhere on Alliant's website

I did call them three years ago, and they stated all but RL17 had it. I guess that does include AR Comp, Varmint, and others also. 243Win, which chemical are they considering the de-coppering additive?

Not being snarky, who cares if it does ? I use it and it works well for me , I don’t care if it does or doesn’t.

Serious question, why does it matter ? If the load works use it and it doesn’t , don’t . I mean IMR 4895 & 4064 doesn’t have it and I use those as well . If AR-comp shot like crap for me I wouldn’t care how much copper removing abilities it had .

I have never used it and I'm trying to find a accurate powder to use in my new 223 bolt and 224 Valkyrie. My new 223 bolt rifle tends to accumulate copper quickly. If a powder has something in it to help control the buildup, it counts as a definite plus to me. I'm also moving over to the school of thought where I won't clean my bore on my F-class rifles until they start dropping points. The longer I can go before cleaning, the better.

Yes it comes out like a gray mud. Very easy to clean but takes a bit to get back in there so you may can go longer between cleanings- at least thats the point, to get that layer on there
From my experience, that layer does allow more shooting and less cleaning. I went from cleaning after every match, to cleaning about every 200-240 rounds or so.

I feel pretty certain you will like AR-Comp in 223Rem fatelvis.
And yes, AR-Comp uses Bofors' patented bismuth-tin decoppering agent.
Shoot well,
Paul

I started on RL15 and moved to AR Comp. I love AR Comp.

I only wish there was a burn speed between AR Comp and RL16 in an extruded Alliant powder. PP2K is listed as that powder, but it’s ball and thus far I’ve not found the accuracy I get with AR Comp in .223 or RL16 in 6.5crd
