Yes. Hand applied Arrowood, but as I suggested in your thread, I sanded it past 1000 grit BEFORE I put oil on it. Oiling at 400 leaves you wet sanding to get a glossier finish. You can easily leave it dull, which I think is adequate for a hunting gun.
I put a heavy “soaking” first coat on and let it sit for half an hour. I did another light coat and let it sit for 2 hours, then hand rubbed it for 10 minutes. It’s already looking glossy.

How many hours were required to transform the stock from the “roughed in” state to the finished one? What tools were primarily used? Beautiful piece!

Well, thinking back, I’d say 20 to 25 hours. I use a router for the inletting with various bits. An old drill press for the one too many action screw holes. I have a router table with a 1/4 rounding bit for the 40x style fore end and then I started sanding the final shape. I use a rotary disc and palm sanders . It’s a little easier for me, since I’ve done so many. I shape the butts and grips by eye, mostly.

Sanding it to-2500 grit

I rub it for 1-2hr, then put a light dab of mothers aluminum polish on it-
Rub another 30min-
Will be glass like !!!

Anyone here every try doing a stock with French Polish using shellac? Yeah, yeah, I know it's not very durable but it looks the shizzle!

Next up is a Mesquite stock with a turquoise fill. It has some bigger cavities so I’m going to use larger chunks of stone. Should be fun, but more involved. We’ll see how it goes. It’s going to be cut for the Winchester M70 for my friend.
