Disappointed with Smith and Wesson

Reading these types of threads just reinforced my thoughts that "We as a group are becoming a huge group of Karens".
People grow up and solve problems on your own. Stop blaming the other guy for problems.
Yes problems do arise but contact the manufacture politely and get the issue resolved. And go on about your life.

If you read his post about Tandemkross it seems he's disappointed with them too.
If someone is unhappy with Tandemkross, chances are good they ain’t ever going to be happy with anything! I have upgraded several Victory’s, 7 Browning Buckmark, and 4 Rugers MK lll &lV, with Tandemkross parts and not a single one of them has any problems!

That would be like sending your car back to the factory for new wiper blades and waiting several weeks to get it back. Just don't see the need for the inconvenience for such a simple repair.
Best to get renewed while not in use this winter…. I’ve sent several back to get “ rebuilt “…
I have more rds down that on my buckmark, it’s gotten rebuilt 3x so far…

I just sold a 617 that had been rebuilt 2x from 30k of ammo on it.. I could push the hammer off the sear-
Didn’t cost me anything!!!!
It looked like & functioned like a brand NEW one…I got top $$$ for it when I sold it last week !!!

Great Response, and Spot On!

Ok, here's how it might go...owner asks S&W for a broken part. They send it to him. He installs it but in a way that causes a malfunction and someone is hurt. Gun owner is sued, then have their lawyer sue S&W all the while claiming it is there fault. If you send the gun to the maker they will do good work AND both of you will have a service record of it.

One of the benefits of sending a unit to S&W is they will give it a through look over and tell you if any other issues need to be addressed. Sounds like a win win to me.

Not in my experience. I bought a new M648 22Mag. last year. It would fail to fire 1 round out of each cylinder full (8 rounds). I sent it to S&W. They returned it, said they fixed it and fired 3 cylinders with no problem. When I shot it I had 3 F.F. out of the first 8. Fired 100+ rounds same 3-4 FF each time. Sent it back again, and when I got it back it was 2 FF. I talked to my dealer and they contacted the dist. (Davidsons) They have a lifetime warranty, and sent me a new one, took back the bad one. So S&W had this gun 3 times and couldn't make it go bang.

And anybody that has a different viewpoint or experience is a Karen according to you. After over a half of century in guns I can definitely say things were better back then. The status quo has changed and not for the better.

Have a Victory 22. Got somewhere between 7,000 and 10,000 rounds through it in 7 years. Been getting light and no strikes frequently. Traced the problem to a worn out firing pin rebound spring. Easy fix. But S&W won't sell the part. They want you to send it in or take it to an authorized repair place. The manual doesn't even have a schematic & parts list nor will S&W send you one. The gun is well designed to make it so simple to do. Can't understand all this. Have the part coming from Midwest Gun Works. Kind of soured me again on S&W.
Look here schematic

and here spring

I haven't bought anything from S&W since they caved to the locking device demand. I haven't bought anything from Brownells since they cheated me on something 14 years ago on sale and wouldn't respond to my email. But, that's just the way I am.
I havent bought anything from Ruger since they carved ' read instruction manual' on their firearms. wtf!

Ditto me since the awful lock. And years ago my goal was to get one of
every model number of Smiths. started in early 1970's and got a bunch.
None with lock. Big goal was Model 29's in each barrel length and finish.
Man oh man was that fun in the e1970 and 1980...especially since I couldn't really
afford to buy them all but I did anyway. Also couldn't afford those 427 Corvettes
either........but glad I did! Oh man the memories. Stopped buy them when lock came out.

First, and I have seen lots of data from the S&W CS center, the overwhelming percentage of "failures" to the lock system on a S&W revolver were customer induced (IE customer thought they were a gunsmith). There were no failures reported on even the heaviest recoiling guns (worst recoil is not X-Frame 500 but the 340PD 357 Magnum) . Most purists only real complaint about it is aesthetic. As for that, there are a couple of "delete kits" out there for the haters.
The side plate lock has never been problem for me, especially after ALL S&W revolvers (PC included) went away from forged nd through-hardened hammers and triggers, replacing them with MIM parts. While MIM parts could be held to tighter tolerances part to part they just couldn't be heat treated the way the forged parts were. The Fitter job description was taken out of the workplace, thus leaving that final expert fitting in the ashes. IMO, this one area is where the adage "they don't make them like they used to" really fits.
