Digging Deeper into COVID-19

One result of this pandemic is increased firearm sales. Maybe some purchased with recover act funds? It could be argued that $100 given to the NRA only results in a better fitting suit for Wayne. $100 in tax revenue disbursed in the name of pandemic recovery results in a new AR15 owner. Couple more pandemics and recovery acts and we will reach "herd immunity" from firearm restrictions. 90% of us will be armed. Has to be a bright side to this recent history.

So many of the arguments used in this thread remind me of when the government forced the use of seat belts in cars. I was one of the those who said it was my right and I refused to wear a seat belt that is until I went through the windshield in a car accident and ended up in the hospital with head injuries that would have been prevented if I had worn my seat belt. Since then I have always worn my seat belt and comb my hair to cover the scars.

It is their own fault. We have one particular ideology that has done everything they can to tear down trust in our institutions. They are so biased and selective as to when they tell the truth that everything they say must be thoroughly scrutinized.

Against that backdrop it's easy to forget that there are still good people doing good science.

I don’t think I follow you on all of that but I do hope and pray their are a bunch of great people doing good science.
I have enjoyed this thread for the information gained from it, and am in no way against anyone wanting to take the vaccine or the same for those of us that have not chose to do so either.

I know a few guys who still refuse to wear seatbelts.

Then there is a friend of mine who refuses to get the vaccine for numerous reasons but has said at the same time he hopes that as many people as possible will get the shots which in turn provides him the needed protection from the virus spreading and him possibly catching the virus without him having to take the shots himself.

Its such a shame that peoples views are skewed by politics. It seems that views and actions are accepted as a badge of honor to show support and loyalty to a party.

This not necessarily pro or con anything, but to make sense of the incidence and severity of disease, you have to have access to the actual contact tracing data. I don't know why they don't release that in depersonalized catagories.

In the 200 or so hospital employees in our institution who contracted covid, I initially thought masks didn't work, and remember, these are folks with good masks who know how to wear them (and most non-healthcare folks lack one or both, or at least did early on, when masks were made out of all sorts of stuff). However, when you looked at contract tracing, they all caught covid from social settings. BTW we didn't see kids as vectors, and though I have obviously seen only one city's contact tracing data, I haven't heard of a child's death from Covid in our hospital.

As for the vaccine, believe what you want. Funny how things change. When Trump went warp 9 on developing this, several Dems said they wouldn't take it. Now that it's Joe and Kacklea's vaccine it is our patriotic duty.

The statement "Health agency..........." and "Some teenagers..........." seem to conflict. What am I missing?
