Didn’t Alliant announce powder production suspension ?

MR2000 and RL 15.5 are hardly 'slow movers'.
Hodgdon “fast movers” like Varget, Retumbo, H1000 H4350 have been sitting in store shelves and websites for months now so this is a strong indicator that either the supply has been satisfied (most people have what they needed) or as previously mentioned the reloaders simply refuse to buy at the current market prices.

This same principle apply to all brand of powders.

Or maybe the reloaders simply have reached the point that they are slowing down/no longer buying because of high powder prices. Ever heard of the law of supply and demand?

I know plenty of guys that wants to buy some more powders but couldn’t afford the current market prices.
Reloaders are a tiny portion of the market for gun powder. If there were a nitrocellulose shortage, there would be much less powder available today vs 7 months ago.

Are you still on the point of this thread? The OP was about Alliant cancelling orders for powder due to a nitrocellulose shortage.

I said this principle applies to ALL brands of powders which would include Alliant.

My point is Alliant is not the only one that is dealing with slow/slower moving powders that used to be “fast movers” that you are seeing on shelves today.

Alliant didn't suspend production, they suspended sale of canisters. In other words they have military contracts and with nitro cellulose in limited supply, they aren't filling or taking orders for 1 pound or 8 pound canisters. 1 pound and 8 pound canisters are what the civilian market gets...

Which proves the point that there's more powder available today. It's not because reloaders are buying less - the market for reloading is a tiny part of the total market for gun powder.

Jelenko, in fact the OP never mentioned a cellulose shortage. All of these theories presuppose that the information we receive is factual. I have no idea if it is or not but for the past 4 years nothing we have been told is factual. Why would any of us think the news we get about reloading products is the truth? The guy that has been telling us he is running the ammo plant 2 shifts 7 days a week just sold 60+ % of our ammo production to a foreign country. 10% always goes to the big guy, whoever he is in this situation.

Right. All we actually know is what we can see. We see the availability of gunpowder at retailers has increased in the past 7 months.
