Did I choose the wrong caliber when I bought the Tikka T3x super varmint 22-250?

I wanted to buy the MDA XRS chassis. Then I am told that no matter what magazine I purchase for it. It will not feed the 22-250 round reliably. May only feed one or two then it jams. I'm told it is the ammo not the gun, not the mag but it is the caliber 22-250 that is the problem. Is it a forgotten an lost caliber now. That there are no magazines manufactured anymore to feed this round?
Does anyone know how or from who I can buy a magazine that will feed this ammo up the ramp and into the chamber, every time.
I am not a gun smith and I do not want to pay one to notch the feed ramp. Someone said.

I assume it uses AI mags? 700 action or clone? 22-250 will feed from anything but an AR, and will sometimes feed in ARs. I have had no trouble with it.

Worst case you’ll have to buy a magazine feed lip tool, which costs a whopping $20.

If it uses AI mags and is a 700 or clone, I’d kinda like to know who told you it wouldn’t feed.

I thought it was common knowledge that AICS mags have trouble feeding the 22-250, but may work with reduced capacity. MDT even says it on their web page.

Its just an AICS magazine problem with the 22-250 and certainly not ALL mags.

The chassis i want is from MDT and they said it would jam with any magazine. I have not bought the chassis yet until i know I can get a workable mag. For now I am only shooting factory load. Hornady varmint 55 grain.

The chassis I am looking at is the MDT XRS but MDT tells me the 22-250 load will get jamed. And no matter what mag i use, because it is the cartridge causing the problem not the mag or the chassis. Maybe I will call magpul. I want AICS though. Who else should I call and ask?

Who make the feed lip tool ?

I'm going to suggest that the .22-250 is not a "... forgotten and lost calibre now ".

After Winchester stepped away from the .220Swift, the .22-250 has dominated the upper case capacity spot for factory .224" calibre chambering's, pretty much since 1965.

The .223 did not become the darling it is today, until well after the end of the Vietnam War.
The CF .224" factory chamberings sop up the sales today are the.223; and the .22-250.

For whatever the reasons, .22PPC, .22BR, .22-47L, .22XC, .224WSSM; and .22 C

OOops... transmitted -error.

" ... and .22 Creemoor have not supplanted the .22-250 ".

It'll be interesting to see what does eventually bump off the .22-250.

When I went to buy 22-250 ammo there were only 10 boxes. Happen to be Hornady super varmint 55gr.
Where are all the other factory manufacturers. ? Just wondering.

I really enjoy a good accurate 22-250 but if you feel like you made a mistake get a gunsmith to stick a 22 Creedmoor reamer down that Tikka barrel, unless you shoot only factory ammo that is

I don't know all the history of the 22-250 except it used to the go to varmint caliber for a long time.
My dad built one from a mouser action retired army rifle. Probably all the old set ups from years ago
were working just fine. Everyone had one. The shops were full of the ammo and rifles at the time.
But it has fallen by the wayside and maybe the new rifles and mags now are different some how. I don't
know. This is new news to me.

I can't comment on your feeding problems with the chassis, but I shot a 22 250 for year in a Remington 700 and never had any feeding problems.

If you are a long-range varmint hunter, the 22 250 is most definitely not the "wrong" caliber. If you are a target shooter that shoots a lot of sustained fire sequences, then this caliber is not a good option because it will wear out a barrel quickly.

I do not understand your aversion to having an experienced gunsmith fix this feeding issue for you. In the long run, the minimal fee will be cheaper than you trying to solve this problem yourself.

The XRS I had would feed 6BR from plastic PMags.
I would bet the longer 22-250 wouldn't have any issues
