I hear you. I used to hunt in some pretty thick woods and only had a lane or two to see down and it was easy to dose off. Now I have more area to watch hunting across a pasture that butts up to a couple of nice blocks of trees on good travel paths. I've had the good fortune of gaining another hundred acres east of my original spot this year so hopefully I will too busy to think of napping, lol.
That Suburban makes a pretty good stand too.
Sat in my tower blind a few times this summer trying to clean up some coyotes that were on my game cam running down some fawns. No luck. Surprisingly no bugs, bees or critters made it inside since I built it a year ago. I tried to make it as air tight as possible but regardless bugs and mice still seem to penetrate deer blinds. So far so good. Youth hunt is in about 10 days so I'll probably be napping in it during that weekend.
I hunted opening day firearm season down there in 1989. I will say it was extremely hot on August 15th. I'll never do it again.

As far as the Mr Heater goes. Stop screwing with those little bottles. Mr Heater makes a hose so you can run the Little Buddy Heater right off a BBQ size tank (20lbs) or even a 40 lbs tank.
Another cool heater that Mr Heater makes is a wall mounted model that has a 10k max with a thermostat knob. I set mine on 1 and it basically is it's lowest setting. Kicks on and off as it calls for that temp. I used it in an enclosed trailer that I made into a deer camp. Works very well. Best part is, it won't cook you out of the blind if set at the right setting as it does not provide constant heat.
I was driving cross country and stopped at the ranch in central Texas where I hunt. My friend the land owner has been ill for a few months. Having a heart attack trumps clean up for me hunting.
Went out to check out stand and the grass was really high, over 8' tall, like Africa. He gave me a crash course in running the shredder on the skid steer, 6 hours later it's looking good.
I hate walking in tall grass in the dark to the stand, now I have a path 12' wide.
I used the bucket on other tractor to dig for a mineral lick, 95 degrees is too hot to be using a shovel to dig.

I have an elevated box blind that I built on my property at least 10 years ago. I have shot 2 deer out of it. When I built it my wife asked why I was building it. I said it's my old guy deer stand that I'll use when I am no longer able to hunt the way I always have. I just turned 72 in August. I hunt Michigan and Wisconsin. I still hunt, make drives, use my Summit climbing stand, take a daypack and hunt all day and use no bait. My cousin and hunting buddy are starting our 60th year of hunting together. The areas we hunt we rarely see another hunter especially after opening weekend. We don't always kill deer but we have a hell of a good time. Barlow
Deer stand= A grown man’s excuse to build a tree house!That’s a nice one! Just needs a few amenities so you can stay for a few comfortable days.
I originally built one for taking my daughter hunting but quickly realized that I could hunt through any weather for as long as I wanted. Too cold and wet misery doesn’t exist now. I’m able to keep going day after day without the need of recovery from clinging to a tree all day.

I pray that I will be healthy enough to still be hunting when I am 72. I don't always kill or see deer but I love to be in the country where it's quiet and I get to see the sunrise, sunset and watch all the critters running around. This sunrise from last year was just as good as seeing a big buck.

Did the same, split some big donuts of cherry, ash, locust and osage orange. It'll be a while before it's ready to burn. That looks like some well seasoned cherry on the truck.
It’s all Oak, guess it’s red oak on top. I like to cut a load of “ready to burn” for a first load next to the stove. There’s some big and heavy under the top layer that’s going to need the splitter. Firewood is about like mowing, it’s great at first then down hill from there. Lol
8 days until season here, I’m ready hunt down a Big buck!

How cold does it get in Mo.? For all of my teenage and adult life until two years ago I cut and split (what needed splitting) 12-13 firewood cords of mostly hard maple with a splitting axe. I used a hydraulic splitter one day about 40 years ago, but decided they were too much work. Now I cut about 3 cord to burn in the fireplace. Barlow
January and February can be pretty rough here with our humidity.
