De-capping die

Does squirrel daddy have a website? I looked at amazon and they have a 3 pack for $19, and a single for $4. I assume there must be at least 2 different models?

I have always wanted to put my name on the board by inventing a 'cannot be improved on' hand tool for reloading. 21C has it covered for the hand priming function. But I havent see a hand decapper that works that well, is ergonomic and compact. I keep thinking and have bought all the hand ones to play with. The closest is the Harvey and I tried to modify the obvious flaws but in the end it was still a Harvey. Back to the drawing board!!

Get the Mighty Armory but DO READ THE INSTRUCTIONS, unlike my dumb ass, so you won't screw up and bend a pin or two. You will be very satisfied with the die. Works great with the small pin and small flash holes in Lapua cases.

I use a Frankford Arsenal handheld de-primer that cost me around $45. Much easier than sitting at the press and I've tasked my 9 year old (at the time, he's now 11) with de-capping every case when we get home from shooting. This is probably the best I'd been drinking purchase I have ever stumbled across.

I threw my Lee decapper out the truck window @80mph after getting a set of Redding large and small decappers.
Mighty Armory was more than I wanted to spend for a tool to preform the simplist of operations at the bench.

Mighty Armory or FW Arms - both are spring loaded and bullet proof. These are essential if using a progressive press and especially if any cases have a crimped or lacquered primer.

Try the Mighty Armory, it will be the last decapping die you will need to buy. A few days ago I made a stupid mistake. I started decapping some .223 cases and it was a struggle. I was having to add serious pressure to deprime a case. Finally, they would pop out. After 4 cases I stopped, thinking there was something wrong. There was, I had forgotten to replace the large primer stem with the small primer stem. Took the die apart, and found my mistake. Checked the stem, it was still straight, no bend.
the shorty is out of stock as would be idea for the BR cases.

What do the Redding dies do better than the Lee? Serious question, I have never put my hands on them.

The Might Amory and FW Arms decapping dies incorporate a spring with the decapping rod. This really helps when dealing with extremely tight primer/primer pockets, crimped primers, and primers that have been sealed/lacquered in place. These are very difficult to remove and it is not uncommon for the decapping pin to puncture a hole through the bottom of primer before the primer is pushed out of the case. The spring forcefully retracts the decapping pin flicking the spent primer off.

If you are reloading on a progressive press then the process move faster so need to quickly/efficiently remove primers while doing a production run. If the press is automated then it is an essential tool.

They have all sorts of different tools/parts.
