Lee makes a small diameter pin now, also get the whole decap die with the small pin if desired, like $15.Love the Lee, but it's too big for the .059-.061 flash holes.
Like someone else said, get Mighty Armory’s PUA die and it will do everything you have without changing anything.https://www.mightyarmory.com/products/the-pua-decapping-die-for-lapua-brassIs there a universal de-capping die you would recommend?
Need it for 6, 6.5, 30, all BR’s
Does it come with a rod that is for the small flash holes?
Descriptions I have read are not clear to me.
Thanks in advance for any advice.
My MA dual purpose (de-cap & de-crimp) with the 20 cal pin works on 20 cal. I don't have a 17cal CF, so..Will the Mighty Armory PUA with the small pin WORK on the 17 or 20 caliber with SMALL necks?
the shorty is out of stock as would be idea for the BR cases.Try the Mighty Armory, it will be the last decapping die you will need to buy. A few days ago I made a stupid mistake. I started decapping some .223 cases and it was a struggle. I was having to add serious pressure to deprime a case. Finally, they would pop out. After 4 cases I stopped, thinking there was something wrong. There was, I had forgotten to replace the large primer stem with the small primer stem. Took the die apart, and found my mistake. Checked the stem, it was still straight, no bend.
What do the Redding dies do better than the Lee? Serious question, I have never put my hands on them.I threw my Lee decapper out the truck window @80mph after getting a set of Redding large and small decappers.
Mighty Armory was more than I wanted to spend for a tool to preform the simplist of operations at the bench.
Quality tool for starters, small pins for tiny flash hole. What do the Redding dies do better than the Lee? Serious question, I have never put my hands on them.
The Might Amory and FW Arms decapping dies incorporate a spring with the decapping rod. This really helps when dealing with extremely tight primer/primer pockets, crimped primers, and primers that have been sealed/lacquered in place. These are very difficult to remove and it is not uncommon for the decapping pin to puncture a hole through the bottom of primer before the primer is pushed out of the case. The spring forcefully retracts the decapping pin flicking the spent primer off. What do the Redding dies do better than the Lee? Serious question, I have never put my hands on them.
Does squirrel daddy have a website? I looked at amazon and they have a 3 pack for $19, and a single for $4. I assume there must be at least 2 different models?
