CZ 527 Input Needed

I’ve got a 527 project in the works. Started as a 6.5 Grendel American I picked up used for $500. Added a Glades Armory oversized handle. Sent bottom metal and mag to Roy B. to get converted to flush fit. Having a stainless 22ARC barrel installed at Manzella precision. I’ll be making an English walnut stock for it. Should make for a real classy, light weight hunting rifle.

Sounds like it's gonna be a nice setup. I too have a 22 ARC being built.

How recently had you purchased this CZ 527?

I have a 527 lux in 223 and been contemplating if I should make something else out of it. Picked it up from original owner for 350 and drove 1 hour drive and and back like a little kid with a new toy lol.
Since then I got a 204 Kevlar varmint and had pac nor barrel put on it. I absolutely love it.
Only thing is I need to find a new extractor for the 204 as the original owner neglected it. Anyone know where to source one?

Fern, have you tried contacting Gun Parts Co. in NJ? Formerly called Numrich Gun Parts Co. They have an incredible inventory of parts for almost every firearm ever made in the modern age.

Or call CZ? While it is discontinued, they still have a 5 year warranty I think it is. I would think they kept parts on hand for 5 years of warranty work and it was discontinued about 4 years ago.

Rick had no idea. I will definitely give them a call and maybe grab some other parts as just in case lol
My Kevlar 204 was discontinued in 2011-2013 so it’s well past the warranty period

Either caliber will make a good stopping gun for sage rats. My 17HH is a Ruger #1 and my 222 is a 40X, both done by Blagg Rifles in Pendelton. Both the rifles are heavy to eliminate recoil 'jump'. I'm sorry I don't have any experience with that CZ rifle. I have had problems getting components for the 17HH, not so much for the 222, lucky timing. Using a Vickerman seating die makes loading the 17HH much easier.

I had several 527’s. They had a good reputation and I used them as a test platform for cartridges I had not played with before. When CZ in their infinite wisdom quit offering them I was quick to unload them to those that HAD to have one.
I promptly reinvested those funds into Howa Minis. I don’t feel as I lost anything. FYI the 17HH ammo, brass and dies paid for a Howa mini, the rifle it’s self bought two with $$ left. Wish I had bought more at the time.

So how well does the Howa mini feed the hornet case???
How well does it feed the 221FB case ???

If howa would offered the mini in stainless with a floor plate I’d be all over it. At one point they had a floor plate they were showing off at shot show a couple years ago but nothing ever came of it.

The magazine thing doesn't bother me at all. It's the fact that I want a Howa Mini in a MDT XRS or KRG Bravo. It appears they only do them for the 1500 SA.
My two custom 527's are in the now out of production H-S stocks. One is 17AH and the other 6PPC.
I have an itch for a 6ARC that could be done on the right 527 (7.62-39) or buy a Howa Mini in that caliber for much less investment.

I was thinking ahead B4 the CZ527 ceased production & picked up a few sonar rifles. That was B4 6mm ARC hit the market. Yet I feel I was wanting / planning for a 6mm ARC more than a year B4 the 6mm ARC was announced. Been my favorite deer rifle for a few years now.

After fooling with the 17HH and its quirks with factory ammo/brass the 221 case made a lot more sense. I found a fairly large swing in case weight/capacity with the Hornady brass. Yeah if I was so inclined to make new brass, I could have solved the problem.
I ended up weighing cases and ran two lots.
I like the Hornet and own a couple. I won’t fret or worry about anyone building a rifle action for it, let alone some of the long swings in between brass availability at times.
I won’t loose sleep over no Hornet offering, nor will I pay the outrageous price.
Yeah the CZ feeds the Hornet case, but it is anything but smooth. I pushed the bolt shut with my thumb so as to go in a straight forward motion, as I have found many others have as well.

I have not chambered a rifle in any of the minis, but did some trial runs with 221 dummy rounds into a 223. Used factory mag and Jefferson Outdoor bottom metal, never saw where it was an issue.

I have loaded down 17FB to 17HH levels with a lot less headaches and work. It was the easy button for my purposes. If I loose some FB brass, I spend little time searching for it, where as for 17HH brass I assumed the “brass hound” position for quite some time for a few pieces.

Toss a round in a mini and close the bolt, feels like nothing happened.
Same way on feeding from the magazine, I will catch myself pulling the bolt back to see if it picked up a round.

I own three CZ rifles: Their M-452 in .22 LR, two M-527s .222 Rem Lux Grade, and one in 7.62 X 39 m/m. All are very accurate.
