Interesting thread- Im glad you got yours and the wifes-- Im wondering if they pulled all these refer trailers full of bodies to one giant parking lot and opened them up and showed pics of all the thousands of bodies on the news that some of the naysayers who say they wont get the vaccine would sing a different tune. Im over 60 like most of the people on this thread so im not to worried about any long term implications- il be dead by them anyhow. ill be getting mine as soon as i can.

This is a part of the argument I don't get. If I give you a pack of skittles or whatever candy you like, let's say there's 100 in there, but I poisoned one, would you eat them, or do everything you could to get rid of them? They would be 99% non-fatal.

It's a weird disease. Like, killing those with no comorbidities type of weird. Young and healthy dead or tubed and month long stay type of weird.

As in, if one is worried about genetic tinkering, better stop eating period. Nearly everything we ingest these days has either been genetically modified or loaded with antibiotics and/or hormones and/or other drugs designed to provide positive outcomes to the source of our food supply. Natural foods are not natural. They are grown in soil that has been farmed for well over 100 years using chemicals long since banned and using seed that did not exist 50 years ago. Better living through chemistry I say.

The Pfizer and Moderna vaccines work by getting a piece of mRNA inside muscle cells (by injecting the mRNA into your shoulder), whereupon the mRNA is translated by your muscle cells into a fragment of the virus's spike protein. The spike protein fragment is the antigen that is recognized by your immune system, preventing the coronavirus from attaching to your cells and causing disease. mRNA vaccines are indeed new, but have nothing to do with "gene alteration". The great advantage of mRNA vaccines is that they can be produced within a day of the pathogen's DNA sequence being determined.

Other ways of getting an antigen into your system include having a genetically engineered yeast cell produce the protein (e.g., for Hepatitis B and Human Papilloma Virus vaccines), direct injection of attenuated live virus (e.g., measles vaccine, oral polio vaccine), injection of killed virus (e.g., rabies vaccine), or growing an attenuated virus in eggs (e.g., influenza vaccine).

Edit: I guess I should add that you can "immunize" yourself by getting infected with the pathogen itself. Hard to believe that anyone thinks that is less risky than getting vaccinated, but ...

No elitism intended. Rather than boiling it down to dumb or smart I like to view it as common sense. Either you have it or you don’t. You either believe in science or you don’t. Idiotic conspiracy theories have no place in my world because I have the ability and information to debunk them in short order.

CV vaccine research has been ongoing for years. Because China and Russia and Iran research viruses for weapons. This virus is an A type (animal) origin that "somehow" was able to make the protein jump to humans. And everyone talks about flu vaccines, we don't have a flu vaccine. We have flu shots that are used to reduce or lessen the symptom severity, no vaccine because influenza mutations occur yearly. The flu shot is about 60% effective at preventing serious influenza symptoms. And yes it is amazing that we are 1/2 way through cold and flu season and no reports. If you think back over the last 10 or 11 months the narrative has changed more times than enough. How many times in your life have you heard a Dr.say, " It's a virus, it has to run its course". Why is this member of the Covid family the only one to ever elicit this level of response. Fortunately we stll have at this date in the USA the ability to make decisions on our own. Sure we do. We just can't predict with 100% accuracy which influenza strain will predominate in a particular year. The educated guess has to be made about a year in advance to gear up for vaccine production. Sometimes we get it very right, rarely very wrong, usually somewhere in between.

And yes it is amazing that we are 1/2 way through cold and flu season and no reports.

Or... bear with me... it’s people like me that get to tell family members their loved one is about to die and no they can’t see them or be with them. They’re going to die alone gasping for air as their lungs flood. I can paint a fantastic nightmare for you if you’d like. One of my coworkers did a few years of hero type stuff in the desert and broke down the other day from having to do this. But it’s cool, because it’s only 99% fatal, am I right?

Anything you do is up to you and that’s your freedom. That’s awesome. Love it. Maybe you and those around you are the 99%. I don’t like rolling the dice with my family’s health.
