My parents are over 95 and cant get one. zero responses from the state contacts here in Florida

My 85 yr. old father received his first shot Tues. at the VA. I do residential HVAC and we are awaiting word from the county on when we get ours. We are in 8 different houses per day when doing preseason startups. We want to protect ourselves as well as our customers.

Interesting situation here. Our New Braunfels, Texas newspaper went from a 6 day week to 5 day week after the Covid started. Rather than publish a newspaper from Tuesday to Sunday, they now only publish it from Tuesday to Saturday. This week's Tuesday paper had an interesting article on the vaccine. Seems that on Sunday it was announced that there had been 158,+++ doses released to Bexar County for two San Antonio health centers to dispense, but none were sent to Comal or Guadalupe Counties. The next paragraph after all the particulars on the quantities and where they were sent related to the locations and phone numbers of the two health centers for appointments to receive the vaccine. Immediately after that, they stated that all the appointments for the vaccine had been filled by Monday morning. Bear in mind our paper wasn't published until Tuesday. My question for the editor would be, why even publish the article if it was not relevant to the outlying communities around San Antonio. I think they've just decided that this pandemic is a good excuse to just go to a 5 day work week, and they have no interest in the populations they serve judging by all the articles that have been printed for the last 3-4 months. Sad that this is happening in Small Town America that has become not so Small Town anymore. The wildly liberal San Antonio paper is published 7 days a week, but after a month long battle trying to get them to understand exactly where I lived, including even providing GPS location in addition to the subdivision street address and they still couldn't deliver it I gave up the subscription. They were already delivering one block over from me BTW. Back to looking and waiting for the vaccine.

Tennessee changed it's guidelines to 65 or older, but apparently if the local health dept's don't follow the new guidelines, does not help much. My mom is 95.5 y/o, and cannot get anyone to answer the phone to find out any info. Wife called local health dept today for us (67 & 65), and was told they are still only giving the vaccine for 71 and older. I don't want to take a shot away from someone older, but if the older people are not going to get the shot, don't let the medicine go to waste. JMO.

Austin Health Dept. put it out yesterday very early in the morning, my wife seen it at 0530 and got on the
computer quick. We both got an appointment and their whole system crashed about 0800.
Good thing you got it. One symptom that I and my co workers reacted to was minor headache and a sore arm.

I'm on the wait list. 66 years old, Chemotherapy, Radiation, Surgery didn't bump me up in the queue. Looks like late spring at best for me.

Our school system was giving it Tuesday and some.of the guys got it.
I didn't, and the foreman didnt. He said if you couldn't eat eggs you couldn't take it. I eat eggs but still won't take it. I've never took a flu shot.

The COVID-19 vaccines available in the U.S. (Pfizer and Moderna) are mRNA-based, and are not grown in eggs. Egg allergies don't have a damn thing to do with COVID-19 vaccines.

Most influenza vaccines are produced by propagating the attenuated virus in chicken eggs, which is why the nurse makes sure that you're not allergic to eggs before giving a flu shot.

The more people like you that decline the COVID-19 vaccine the sooner I will get mine. So, thanks.

I am gonna wait and see .. One of my friends wife had a reaction to hers.. Besides, my wife has been tryin to get one here and the health dept is found wanting.. Keep tellin her to call and they are never in..
