Couldnt make this up

I was at the house we are trying to buy when the lawn guy shows up. He has a gray Mohawk. nothing against gray or mohawks just laying the foundation. We get to talking about shooting and he's bragging about how good of a shot he is with his 270...with this wild eye like Uncle Fester he says.... Killing dear at over 400 yards is boring these days....I'm just nodding my head I mean hell this guy could be the next Carlos Hathcock. Well hes asking me how good of a shooter I am....I told him I've came in dead last out of all but one match I've ever shot in almost perfect record....He says what do you shoot....I say 6BR and 6x47...What the heck is that..... I tried explaining it to him. He said well I think using a rest is cheating and boring....I shoot standing "not offhand" with no scope....He said man I couldn't sit there and shoot a piece of paper for hours, there's no point. I asked him if he never used a rest and never shoots paper how the heck does he sight in....The only answer I got after that was....I don't shoot paper I only shoot something if it bleeeeeeds. I didn't have much to say after that.

Don't think too much then on how there are more of them than there are of us. Target shooters are NOT the meat & potatoes of the broader industry support.

I was at a public shooting area years ago when the guy next to me asked what I was shooting. I said a 22-250. He asks how fast my loads were and I told him about 3700 with a 55 grain bullet. He then asks why it's so slow because his 223 does 4500...

Go to store and buy this fellow 100 bucks worth of condoms! When he runs out restock!

I am not quite sure he would know how to use them.. You might have to have a training course once or twice BEFORE you opt to keep him stocked up in condoms! BUT I do like your suggestion! LOL!!

Guy at work says he wants to bring his 16 yo son out to shoot with us. I asked him what did he shoot. He says "I don't know his grandfather built him this $12,000 rifle and he can hit quarters at 600 yards all day with it." I walked away thinking, "this outta be interesting."

That's a funny story! A lot of hunters out there are very lucky with their wild stories and a lot of shooters at the range are great shots until you want to watch them shoot.

Yes good story, I like to challenge them to meet me at the range and shoot some steel
at 600 or 1000 for $20.00 a hit.
No taker's so far ;D

I almost spewed my coffee all over my keyboard with this one!

In all seriousness...most gun owners don't have a clue about any of the competitive disciplines that we may be involved in. Reloading? Ha! They are clueless. Chamber the cartridge, and pull the trigger. That is the extent of what they know.

Who's uncle fester, is that like a nickname for a vp? I see these types all fall sighting in... I didn't thing the ideal sight in range for 300WM was 50y, but I am reminded every year... I do like that they have been buying and leaving brass cases not steal for me to find. Makes me rethink the easter bunny.

Hilarious! Those guys are ALWAYS the best marksmen. And most of them never use a rangefinder either! They can judge 400-1000 yards just fine with their eyes and hit the mark every time! LOL ;D

You have seen nothin' till you see a passel of NY'ers sight in the trusty 1100 slug gun....unless you have seen them shoot at a deer! :o
