SDH,

As Mart T and Scott have correctly mentioned, Lapua is pronounced as "Lop-wah", at least by the Finns. As the boss says, as long as you put your name on a sales invoice, you cna pronounce it anyway you want!

SAKO is pronounced "Sock-oh", and is something of a departure for Finnish firms, in that it is (as Boyd described) an acronymn. Lapua ammunition, Vihtavuori powders and Nokia cell phones are made in the towns of Lapua, Vihtavuori and Nokia, respectively. But hey, we've had Springfield Armory (Springfield, MA) and Rock Island Armory (Rock Island, IL) so I guess it's a trend.

" Loading bullets in a 'clip'" is really tricky also, would like to see it. I've given up on 'clip' altogether. Only the Garand guys get it right.

Are you a stickler for spelling as much as you seem to be for proper pronunciation (the correct spelling)?
Sorry guys, my intent was not to demean or sound condescending. Yes, I noticed that pronunciation was spelled incorrectly. Thanks for pointing that out NateHaler ;) Honestly? I started this thread simply because a conversation around the water cooler led to the topic. I don't have many face to face conversations where the words ogive and meplat come up alot? ;D Shooting as a recreational past time is in danger of becoming extinct where I'm from...I guess that's why I fielded my question here...

I've got a customer who says, "Ojeeve". I've never corrected him as it always gives me a little chuckle.
It's easier to take than, "Remmy, Leupy, Winny, Wicked and Kewl"
