Proper Pronunciation

People often ask me if I say "crick" or "creek". I tell them I say both. A "crick" is a very small stream that is not big enough to have fish living in it. A "creek" is larger and usually full of trout :)

Within 20 miles of the Dupont Brandywine powder mills creeks full of fish are referred to as criks. Just depends on where you are when you hear a pronunciation that is correct and colloquial.

From what I understand/been advised

Swarovski - Swear-ov-ski
Brux - Brooks
Scenar - Ska-Nar

Vigstol - Vig-Stall........ 8)
Casserole - Hot-Dish.... ;D
Nosualc - No-Slack... :-*

Is Brux really pronounced Brooks? If that's true they need to change the spelling! :D

I used to do work for a company in Lafayette GA and another in Lafayette TN. You had to know for sure which one you were talking to or there would be fussing on the other end of the phone. One was pronounced lah-fi-ette and the other la-fay-ett.

Vltor = Ultor
Geissele = guys-uh-lee

Wow. I really had Geissele messed up. To me it was a trigger named after an African antelope, now I don't know what to think :)

Anyone know if Valdada is pronounced like it looks? "Val-da-duh"???

I doubt if any of those company's give rats butte what you call them, as long as you send money when you buy. Political Correctness has got to have an end at some point.

For Lapua, hear Team Lapua members and and the CEO of Nammo Lapua Oy pronounce Lapua. Interesting video, but to hear the pronunciation go to 1:30, 2:45, and 5:50 in the video.

Had to laugh at the bullets, not points or tips comment. Never had heard them called tips or points until the Internet. And then came along the " I have this or that for sell, not sale. Or, I would like to sale this or that, rather than sell." I guess it really does boil down to where you live how you pronounce different phrases.

Very cool video. So I suppose that with an American accent, "La-poo-wah" would be correct. Thanks for that input.

I thought as Americans we had the inalienable right to mis-pronounce anything we damn well pleased. :P

Huddled masses and all that. Is this not so?

(Apologies to the non US members reading this)
