In the course of my day at work, I shuffle through a stack of papers which is also shuffled by at least ten other people, licking their fingers as they go. I use keyboards that are used by at least a dozen other folks, forklifts driven by about six others, -- drive trucks driven by four others, land line phones used by twenty others, various tools used by dozens of others, handle money from -- Lord only knows.

We work in very cold conditions where everyones nose seems to be running, or dripping, our gloves are greasy on one side and snotty on the other. THIS IS THE REAL WORLD. The boss came down and told us to start keeping a three foot distance from each other to prevent the spread.

Room temps and middle humidity levels are optimum conditions for human bacterium or virus to remain infectious on surfaces. Lower humidity and raise temps above 100 f will greatly reduce the length of time a virus can cause infection. Or wipe with 70% alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, let sit for a couple minutes. Wash your hands, cover your cough.

Saw some results of lab tests on Fox News a couple of days ago: 3 hours in the air, 24 hours on cardboard and 3-4 days on plastic and stainless steel surfaces.

My personal thoughts is this virus natural selection. Sounds heartless but natural selection none the less.
We've become a society of weak individuals with all the antibiotics and hand sanitizer our bodies immune systems can't fight of any pathogens.
If death is the result, look at the bright side...
No more work, bills, or taxes. Wife's not in your ear, and you get to go home and be with the Lord and lost loved ones.
See it's not so bad when you look at it in a different perspective.

I got the flu last year. I suspect from a package delivered from the UK.
The thought didn't occur to me before it came "oh chit there might be a virus on this package that's coming"

The latest from the CDC is that viruses like Cronovirus can live outside a host for only a limited amount of time. They are most likely to succumb to dehydration, as they need a moist and warm environment to survive. A hard, slick, glass like surface is ideal for surviving longer, and in humid weather, the Covid-19 seems to be able survive for 2-3 days.

On a cardboard surface that is dry and tends to absorb moisture, or in hot, dry weather the virus's survivability is very poor. Packages shipped from China are not going to contain live viruses.

Looking forward, I wonder if this is going to be a one and done event, or if this disease will return next year. If it returns, is there enough time to make, test and distribute a vaccine before next flu season?

skewed? results. It got into an extended care facility where the folks already had weakened systems. That's where it's going to claim it's victims. Everybody else will just get sick, then recover. They might even put recovered folks on the TV, telling a dramatic tale of near death experiences! That will come later. Right now, thier message is " We're all gonna die". It sells more air time! Think about Nora Odonell and all the other talking heads. They're pampered City folk, surrounded by pampered City folk. They're packed in like sardines in New York and other big cities. Some one sneezes and 100 people get hit. They might have a reason to be worried about losing 2 weeks of work but this "panic" is all about the money and politics.

The fear that ppl are living with is the saddest part.
My confusion with this fear of death started when I was taught that going to heaven was to be my goal.
If that's the goal then why be afraid instead of welcoming ?

This is inconsistent with national and world wide statistics. These figures show a 12.5% death rate while everywhere else the rate is .03%. I did some further checking and found that the latest numbers are much better. There are now 477 cases and 31 deaths, 27 from one nursing home. which accounts for the unusual high death rate. Death rate is now .064%. Subtracting the nursing home cases the death rate is still above the average, but not astronomical.
