Concessions youre making due to primer availability

Myself and others will never allow one of our fellow competitors not to complete due to lack of components. People who compete yearly are just fine. It’s those who are relatively new have not had enough time to become competently secure. Fellow shooters will always be laying in the background to support others.

Maybe a hopeful sign.
I just read that Vista is bringing back more people at Lonoke. Reading between the lines, I got that Vista will try to increase production over what Remington had it at before.
In any case, it will represent additional supply.

The problem we are all suffering from is a whole bunch of people desperately purchasing what ever they can get their hands on. Now all of a sudden they need ammunition. I hope that they all go to a NRA training program. Enjoy the hobby, but please do it safely.

do they have the remington operation up and running now?

It didn't say specifically. The article said there were 400 people at the factory now and they were recalling another 300. The way it was worded make it sound like production is yet to come.
The article said that primer production was running at 10% before the bankruptcy - due to vendors requiring cash.
So, maybe, with they reach full production it might make a difference in primer availability. I'm not counting on it but I think it's something to watch for.

I have enough components to shoot for several years. If things don't turn around by then I will sell my firearms (keep one or two and ammo for self defense) and take up something else. I'll be to old to really care anyway but hope to find enjoyment in watching the nightly news and hoping that a building crumbles, a bridge collapses, a storm hits, a plane crashes, anything that ends up with a pile of worthless dead americans who threw their country to the dogs.

Shooting smaller calibers that use less powder and do more fishing. It's almost pointless to look at a new rifle and try to find all the things to start loading for it. I think this shortage is going to last for a long time!

That’s pretty rough! Remember eighty percent of us didn’t throw this country to the dogs, the others have been brainwashed and we wish them no harm.

It would just break my heart to know that Rem , or some other "new" brand name is going to start crankin out more 7 1/2 BR's . Or maybe they're just callin people back to get wound up for the new five year Fed contract .

I'm an addict !! Roll up a 100 dollar bill and start snorting
spent primers, addict. It got so bad yesterday that I put in
a $600 order to Mid South and the same day have Dragman
try to get me in 2 scopes. I located all my spent Hornady .284's
I used for the initial SA284 tests, and the plan is to shorten
those for the new SA284BR. By 1:30 in the morning, I shut
off the tumbler, and tried to sleep.......Yes Sir !! No primers !!
Withdrawal symptoms suck. Getting low on spent primers.......LOL

I try to shoot 10 rounds per week. Love that burned powder smell as I am addicted to the smell.
Would like to shoot more but afraid I would overdose.

Hey everyone

I'm wondering what concessions you're making now that primers have been very hard to come by for a while now.

A few of mine are:

•wanted to use berger bullets, but am sticking with Hornady ELDs because I don't want to spend the primers to figure out a load with berger when I already have a load for the ELDs
•practicing with my 22lr and not using primers unless it's for competition

Curious if anyone else is doing anything similar
None

Now that powder, primers and bullets are in short supply and are priced outrageously, I now have to work 9 days a week to keep up with hydro-forming and neck turning.

No time to shoot!

You don’t have to worry about burning up your supplies DJ you do a great job thanks

I plan on doing the opposite of most. I’m good on powder, primers, brass and bullets, even adding in another rifle to feed, for at least 4-5 years. I fully intended to shoot even more. I was fortunate to be in a position to plan and aquire ahead of the current political uproar.

I refuse to let morons in government office determine if or how I enjoy myself.

Dave.

I'm spending more time chasing primers, mostly @ Bruno's, who gets some every few weeks...but ya have to BE there, and quantities are very limited, overall and daily.. I restarted shooting just last summer and had many K to start with.. I work at finding them--trading for them, driving two hours to trade some, etc., and I now have more than when I started.. One definite thing I did was to restart with calibers (or cases) that use only small primers, and I now don't distinguish between rifle and pistol primers and use the former in everything. That makes it easier to have enough.. My friend just got serious about sporting rifles and wants to reload, but he's stubborn about wanting what he wants, damn it! so needs SR, LR, and LP.. I do what I can for him, but...

I have a little stock. I am going to use it up as quickly as I can-- Not waste it but Im going to shoot while I can- - who knows how much longer Ill live or be physically able let alone how the laws may change. Enjoy it while I can like everything. Im not buying/trying to buy any components at this point. Just using up what i have.
