Cleaning Scope Lens-What To Use

I have an assortment of moderately priced scopes on Air Rifles and .22 rimfire rifles. They are stored vertically in gun racks. Some of the scopes do not have lens covers and accumulate dust on the lens. How would you suggest cleaning without damaging the lens. I was thinking maybe canned air.

Never used canned so can’t really comment. It is probably the safest way I would think.

You can cut a gun sock up and use sections over the objective and let the excess flop over. Or cut enough to just cover all of the scope. I’ve got more cut up ones than whole ones…

A squeeze bulb blower works very well without possibility of damaging seals. Camera suppliers sell "rocket blowers" but a $2 blue squeeze bulb syringe (aka baby snot sucker) from the pharmacy aisle works excellent. Follow up with a clean natural bristle brush.

I believe there's a article on here about a shooter that used canned air on his scope and it shattered his lens.

Years ago, Ziess told me to flush with water after blowing off the dust. One drop of dawn dish soap in a small spray bottle will get the oil or grease off, which holds dust. Flush with clean water, NEW, micro fiber to dry
