changing barrels on a rifle

Today I was talking to a gentleman about different rifles and the topic of changing a barrel came up. Now I am not at all a person who competes in rifle shooting, but do know my way around rifles somewhat.
Anyway, he told me that to change a barrel on a rifle that has a Bat action, that all you have to do is unscrew one, and screw the other one on. And thats that...REALLY?? I said what about headspacing and he said that Bat actions are all the same, and as long as the bolt face can accept the cartridge, your good to go.
Well, I didnt know that. And I guess is what I'm asking is is this the case? So if I want for some reason to take my 30BR with a Bat action, and have a barrel chambered for a 6BR, and just screw it on because they are all the same, is I dont really have to have a new barrel fitted to the rifle?
I do hope this is the case.
So what about a barrel for a remington action. Does this hold true also?

Here’s a video I did a couple years ago on the topic. All of my barrels are done with the same reamer by the same Gunsmith to the same head spacing so it works. On some thing like a Borden or a Bat and some others you can do this with pre-fit barrels.
What is a switch barrel and how does it work?

Been doing the same cartridges on a switch barrel Panda, for a few years, with great results, from 100 to 1000.
Good Luck to ya!

Not only does the barrels interchange on bats, your gunsmith never even needs to see your action

I didn't know ALL bats are the same ...
I have 2 bat ds.
I have 3 calibers of barrels.
I can rotate them with out really changing anything per barrel however there is a bit of difference in the way they screw on, Bat doesn't index their actions.
My velcro for my heat shield doesn't wind up on top. if I put it on for one action off for the other.
Also the sholder may change by .001 or so.... Just cause ? Idk
My ppc cases that i made up last year are stiff bolt close now. My numbers are are different now by easy half a thou +.

Also weight matters in competitions i shoot in.

Here's a good thread https://forum.accurateshooter.com/threads/barrel-vise.3985806/page-2#post-38286303

If the remington has been measured when a custom barrel was installed and the gun smith kept the measurements you could call and order a barrel for it also. But the remingtons are not all the same or even close.
