Today I was talking to a gentleman about different rifles and the topic of changing a barrel came up. Now I am not at all a person who competes in rifle shooting, but do know my way around rifles somewhat.
Anyway, he told me that to change a barrel on a rifle that has a Bat action, that all you have to do is unscrew one, and screw the other one on. And thats that...REALLY?? I said what about headspacing and he said that Bat actions are all the same, and as long as the bolt face can accept the cartridge, your good to go.
Well, I didnt know that. And I guess is what I'm asking is is this the case? So if I want for some reason to take my 30BR with a Bat action, and have a barrel chambered for a 6BR, and just screw it on because they are all the same, is I dont really have to have a new barrel fitted to the rifle?
I do hope this is the case.
So what about a barrel for a remington action. Does this hold true also?
