CCI Primer packaging - annoying

I understand you completely. I've lost more primers than that on a sneeze during opening of 100 that were not taped. Don't sweat the small stuff. One thing I like your threads are entertaining.
Thank you.

Thank you.

Mostly I posted this asking to see how common place this was.

I think one person actually answered the actual question.

Now THAT's entertainemnt! LOL :)

To answer your question. I have never seen taped primers from CCI. In your pic, its kinda hard to tell, but it looks like strips of tape. In a manufacturing process I wouldnt expect strips but a wide piece of tape that would cover the whole tray. Maybe someone or the store you got them from taped them not CCI?

I remember after the Sandy Hook panic when a supply shortage was a new thing to everyone. Bass Pro was selling CCI primers in the 100 sleeve and placing a piece of scotch tape on each end of the sleeve so nothing would spill out. It was a good day at the store as I scored several sleeve of primers at the hyper-inflated price of $4.50/100. I discovered that one of the sleeves didn't get its safety tape as I was walking down the 3-story tall, giant, log staircase. In slow motion 100 small silver primers went bouncing at full speed down the stairs and into the main foyer at the store's entrance. Thirty minutes later I had 97 primers... and I kept America safe from 97 zombies...

My guess is it took a few days to relieve the aches and pains of duck walking for primers while confused shoppers walked around the crazy guy muttering to himself. The only time I wished it were the absurdly over-sized Federal Primer tray .. that would never have squirted out of my grip.

I have been using CCI primers for years but recently got a got a case of 1000 that had tape over the primer tray.

Of course they all stick to the tape and then you've got to forcibly remove them to get them into the flipper tray and they fly all over the place and I'm losing primers and it's very annoying.

I never once dumped a tray of primers out of its packaging so I'm not sure why they are doing this now.

Is this commonplace ? Is it the new norm? Far as I am concerned it is a solution to a problem that never existed.
I just checked a batch of cci primers (500, 41s, 450s etc) I just received the past few weeks from PV - none of them had anything over the primer tray.

Where did the taped primers come from?
On line or store?

Good question !

I got these from a forum member who sold them to me... Not sure where he got them but these very much look a factory tape job covering the entire tray with a single piece of tape and carefully wrapped around the bottom edges of the tray

I bet a store wrapped them. I have scored CCI primers three times this month, on line. They have to be new production, no tape wrapping.

Just cut the tape, top and bottom on both ends. This isnt rocket surgery. I've had several taped primer packages. I can't recall ever giving it a second thought.

I've addressed this like 4 times. It wouldn't have helped the ACTUAL problem I described like 5 times.

Threads work better if you'll actually read. RIF.

Have you considered that the tape is to prevent some psychopath from sneaking cyanide into the box. This is exactly what happened back in the seventies, and it was really bad. Cmon man!! You know the thing. jd

I, in fact, had NOT considered that possibility. :)

I am late to the party but that packaging is annoying. I’ll take it if that‘s all I can get though. Swearing all the while.

Its like Gorilla Tape on 'roids. I fear they used a substandard tape on the space station when they SHOULD have used this stuff CCI welds primers together with.
