Neck lube ?

Just curious as to what everyone is using for neck lube for bullet seating. I've been using Imperial for YEARS !! My current tin is all but used up...old type prior to Redding. I have a tin of the New Redding Imperial but seems different. Do you use the dry or wet? What do you use ?

Thanks again

Lube inside necks will create inconsistent release. Not a good idea. I run my necks into a nylon brush mounted on the RCBS Trim mate. All you need to do is remove any carbon deposit.

PS - Hornady Unique has replaced Imperial for me.

+1. My experiences in testing has taught me lubing the inside of necks with wet lube is a bad idea and lends to inconsistent bullet release, not to mention what the heated lube (caused by firing the round) does to your casing (i.e. dimples, dents, etc)

Thanks for the replies. I usually only smudge my fingertip with Imperial then wipe it over a nylon brush for new case necks. After that it's just the nylon brush. New cases seem to be very sticky when seating. Once carbon has adhered to the neck wall not an issue anymore.

You can buy one "tub" of Hornady Unique and it will last you "forever". May even be able to pass it down to your kids or grand-kids. So little is needed and the container so large it's "one and done".

I only use it on the outside of the necks. The insides just get the brush treatment except when I do a complete clean in SS Pin media.

I love Unique. Have had same tub for over a year and it has just a shallow depression in the top. Agree that it may survive my entire reloading career. I brush out necks with a nylon brush on the Trim Mate and do not use lube inside.

I like Unique too. I use it for resizing and I think it cleans off the cases easier then Imperial.
And I like Imperial dry lube with ceramic ball media on the inside of the necks.
I'v even used Unique on my cowboy boots. Good stuff.
